It's a good track, Pirenzo. However, I miss the modern edge -- your design is more of a classic track.
Have you got a bigger one? |

That picture is a sbig as i can make it. It is kinda classic, but there are elements of modern. T4, and T9 are quite modern. Then there's the chicane of course. TR and I were discussing it on MSN, hence the fact that there's more pictures than words in our above posts!

Yeah, thanks, P. I posted that track in here a couple of months ago.

Minor changes and accentuated the track a bit.

Here's my version of your track, Pirenzo. I added a couple of alternative club tracks, tightened a few corners and moved the main pits and paddock to the top of the picture. There was a bit more room there. The main (Grand Prix) track is in the top left corner for reference.

hmm, i prefer my last few turns, i don't like the squaring off of those corners. The rest i don't mind.
And i already had some club varients... |

Can't see what else you can do with it without ruining the general layout, which is pretty good.

I see your club variants now, P. I hadn't really noticed them earlier.
And I agree with you ASCII -- the general layout is quite good. The only thing I miss in my ownd design is a genuine hairpin in the Grand Prix course. |

To be honest, i never intended it to have lots of passing spots. But someone like Montoya would have had plenty of opportunity to pull off some typically ballsie move into some of those corners. And if you'd got along side them on the straight infront of the pits on my original, heading down to the final few corners, one of them would have to have conceded. It's the sort of provocative move Senna might have pulled on Prost

Well, P... you have a point there. Your original design is quite a 'I've got bigger balls than you' kind of track.
I doubt it would be built in one up and coming Formula 1 country, though. By the way, you/we could consider designing a track incorporating the best of both worlds. Having a modern F1-spec track AND a Spa/Suzuka/big balls circuit in one! |

OR.
All of us who regularly contribute to this thread (ie, TR, CG, You, Me, and some other people who i've forgotten[i'll remember in a minute No offence to anyone]) could do exactly what you say, and then combine all of our tracks together into one, editing it until we're happy with it, and then submit it to etracksonline as a 10/10ths tracks thread effort. That could be our next challenge sort of thing. And quite a challenge to encorporate all of our ideas at that. Perhaps you could tidy it up and make it look porfessional Lustig. |

That's a really good one there P. I need to plug my scanner in sometime and post a few of my own sketches.

Nice idea - just don't forget that you'll also have to give your reasonings for why you made the layout like it is (not hard just use the threads as a running commentary) and then decide on a possible location and what would race on it. Oh yes - then the tricky bit. Get everyone to agree to a name!

And, by the way - I haven't posted any tracks or mods here for ages. I've been too busy creating real ones for the website! I can recommend Illustrator 8 for making life much, much easier...

I made this in Physics last week. I am going to be obliterated in the test on Tuesday, but at least I made a half decent track
I quite like it, it has a nice flow, in some ways reminds me of the A1-Ring. It's probably a little two Tilke like, but there are four proper overtaking points, and a couple of other twisty bits that would allow some good racing. |

This second ones sees me hack into Bathurst - don't shoot me! There is reason for the Tilke-style hairpin... each year, bloody stacks of cars invariably leave the track at Murray's Corner, often needing the safety car. And if it's wet, the runoff turns into a bog. There are two possible changes to combat this ... a) change to tarmac run off or b) exploit the exit road the leaves off to the side of Conrod Straight. The later is the option I have chosen for it makes the corner even better for overtaking. With so much run-off, the Chase could potentially be bypassed.
I don't expect this to be a popular change, but it's certainly something to look at |
