oily patches are a pain, but that's racing. Peter Burton was very unlucky to have total brake failure approaching the hairpin, hats off to him for jumping out of the MK1 and straight into the MK2 and getting a podium.
It was very slippery getting out of the hairpin on the dusty patch, but The Marshalls did a great job getting the circuit as clean as they did in minimal time. unfortunaltey they can't dust it while we're out there! |

Had the spillage been the result of an incident on a motorway I suspect the Highways Agenecy would probably have had the road closed for 2 days (in both directions) for re-surfacing. MInd you they must be used to it as Mallory. Last time I was there they had an incident where a large slick was deposited all round the circuit, mostly on the racing line iirc, on a formation lap. Took a while to dust and clean but it was good to note that there was plenty of suitable powder available when required. |

HRDC incidents
[QUOTE=yesnomaybe;3148056]
was a shame about all the incidents, crashes, oil slicks, i got a few pics of the rollover at the start of the touring greats race, the hairpin was a bit slippery to say the least, will post a link to my photos once they're online, which should be this week at some point. We will look forward to your pictures if only to understand how this incident happened. |

Just to get things going, Why not start with a pop at engine builders, then move on to drivers, if that doesn't get a solid answer you could always blame the charitable helpers/mechanics . . . as a last resort put a politicians hat on and make it up . . . probably the circuit owners fault for laying oil magnets under the tarmac. |

as there seems to be some interest I thought I would spend a few mins sorting out the shots of the aformentioned rollover and worry about the other 897 photos later on!
heres a link to the photos i got of the rollover http://www.flickr.com/photos/coletri...57631725125771 to me it looked like a typical start line incident where people move across and get turned around, i saw the A35 going sideways for quiet some distance, possibly being pushed along, before the momentum/wheel angle caused the flip, was good to see help arrive so quickly Have also just seen the Volvo Amazon rollover in TC63 on youtube, didnt realise that had happened, thought the delay inbetween races was due to the recovery of the Warwick GT350 3 wheeler! |

A Torrid day for Celia and Ian in the Warwick, a broken rocker shaft shortened qualifying, and a broken hub in the race. We've had a few great dices this and last season.

Let's see if I can summarise some of the events in Joe's race with a handful of photos.
Could be a challenge to select from the many available ... A couple of shots from qualifying and then the deep cleaning crew working on the slippery hairpin. A slightly unusual way so to present the formation lap but at least the drivers had a good chance to see what was going on. |

Continued ....
First lap at the hairpin. Ten a "huge" lead for the second lap at the hairpin. Pushing on at a still very slippery hairpin. Taking the Elbow. After the pitstop adventure - catching for third going into Gerards. Then taking third on the next lap. |

Catching and taking second. Which became first shortly after as the leader retired with a puncture.
Taking the flag and then collecting the garland. There was, of course, the obligatory interview as well. |

As a small thank you to Brian for posting the timetable and entry lists ...
I found one shot of the WSM! Phew! Several of Minnie. Actually more than several but here is a small sample. (Minnie did seem to be going extremely well I thought.) |

Thanks Grant.
You had to be quick for the picture of the WSM as it decided to lose 3rd and 4th early on in practice. Spoke to Bill at Hardy Engineering about it yesterday and he reminded me that the gearboxes were only designed to cope with about 60 bhp and a rev limit a tad lower than 7800! At least we have the whole winter to fix it. Not so with the Elite as we're waiting for the new clutch plate to arrive so I can go and play with the Ecurie GTS guys at Snetterton on Saturday. As you say Grant - Minnie the Minx acquitted herself rather well with a class win and 6th overall. More fettling to be done and she should be quicker next year. |

Great photos - what happened to the Jaguar? My only negative is that a lot of cars seem to have body damage, is that because it was Mallory or have the driving standards started to slip? As someone hoping to be out with you lot next season I do hope not!!

Which Jaguar? In our 50s Touring car race, the Webb/Reid car expired in a cloud of steam in the pits, and Peter Burton had a total brake failure as he approached the hairpin. With nowhere to go he sustained heavy frontal damage. Although there was a lot of oil around the hairpin thanks to Rae Davis' A35 shedding an oil pipe, the oil had nothing to do with Peter's accident. He was fine and went on to a fine podium in the pre-63 race in his other Jag. I thought the driving standards were fine and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I am sure you will also enjoy it next year Simon - just get the car ready, you know it makes sense! |

It was the Burton Jaguar so whilst sorry to hear the reason I am pleased to hear it was not contact. Julius always runs very good series with a great paddock atmosphere.
My Jaguar has started to move forward again and with a bit of luck and a following wind we should be out early in the season. |

The Burton Jag was unfortunate. I had missed it every lap of the race up to that point as, from memory, it was mostly running in a group of 3 cars and I had always ended up shooting the first or second but no time to reposition and get the third. That lap I had looked for him coming through the esses and was ready and waiting to get the shot at the elbow ... and he didn't appear. I realised why about 10 minutes later as I walked towards the hairpin. |

Simon, Driving standards have been very very good I think, we've had a few 'operator error' offs, and the odd mechanical failure, but from my seat, we've been liytle more than a coat of wax apart on numerous occaisions and no touching, and I think we've all been trying very hard, I've certainly never worked so hard.

Dark is MK1, light is MK2 . . . both Peter Burtons . . .seems to be a theme here, 2 Jags
3 Cortina's doesn't have quite the same ring does it |

Peter and John Burton come from this neck of the woods and are great Jaguar enthusiasts. As well as the saloons there are 'E' Type and XK racers plus some road cars..... |
