WTCC Blog writes that Honda will replace Huff with Michigami

Small interest for the WTCC, I think.

TouringCarTimes talks about Huff with Munnich and a C-Elysée, good choice for Huffy in this case.

Why would a faster driver concern themselves with WTCC? A retired 43 year old who did a season of touring car racing 20 years ago is perfect for WTCC.

Also not accurate. If there's one thing that's true for touring cars, it's that there's more good drivers than paid drives around. I think most drivers would jump at the chance of getting paid instead of having to pay to race.

Maybe this is a cost-saving move from Honda. If they already have Michigami on a retainer it's one less salary for the company as a whole.

But wouldn't it be worth having to pay a driver that can compete for the win? Why bother with a series otherwise if you don't want to do what is necessary to win? Just competing for the heck of it?

Manufactures got more money than privateer teams and also needs to be more successful since they have their brand at stake.

I get where you are coming from, but if they are contracted to run, they could just be running last years cars with very few $$$ spent on devlopment and salaries just to honour their contract. I am more than likely wrong, but its a thought!!

It would be a boost to the grid numbers if Lada were run privately and keep the variety on the grid too

I understand your point, I don't have any facts either. Feels quite unnecessary though running a team just because they have too. Just shutting down would make more sense.

But maybe they are running for that reason, or maybe something else. The grid looks quite small at the moment and I would guess the series needs every car it can get. Maybe they are doing it to keep the series alive?

I think they are SMP Racing now. I also think SMP Racing or Oreca or these 2 together.

How many Veste TC1 car exists? The 2015 build ones are damaged, so not able to racing any more. If they have only 3 Vesta's, I think it will be a 2 man team.

They might want to keep Tarquini, and if there is the SMP Racing who we talk, the second driver must be a russian guy (Petrov?).

That would be nice to see. Anyone on the grid in those cars is better than no one.

Privateer cars mean pay drivers. So (I think) no Tarquini and no Catsburg.

And I think that Tarquini wants an official team.
