The blue flags would get a lot of use.

Now we have Formula 2 back, could those cars race at Pau, as a stand-alone race?

Well F3000 used to of course - but it was bloody sketchy, plenty of shunts. the problem back in the day was that cars bottomed out across the camber of the road, meaning no wheel contact and straight into the barriers.

Pau did see a few incidents, but it was a great way to learn a street circuit for an up and comer. It certainly wasn't as chaotic as Enna

Hmm - don't agree with you there but it might depend on what era you're talking about. Pau was choc-a-bloc full of shunts in F3000 of the late 80s / early 90s when I was a team member - WAY more shunts than Enna.

In those days we had 40+ cars trying to get onto a 26 car grid so qualifying in particular was intense. In later years, with maybe higher minimum ride heights etc Pau may not have been as extreme.

I still think Enna was more chaotic, it often didn't follow the pattern of the championship. Although there was that time at Pau when there was a pile up on the starting grid and a wheel got to the first corner in 4th place

One of the attractions of GP2/Formula 2, of course, is the place on the F1 undercard, but it would be nice for the championship to have one or two headline events at which it got the glory. Maybe Pau and then a final somewhere like Imola or Brands?

Yes. Standalone races at Pau and the Norisring would be perfect!
