nice job you had done ! A little bit more than 10 years back I had to build a new Escort for me. That was the time I was a little bit deeper into this Grp.5 thing. I had thought about buying the Escort rs1600 owns now. From this time I have pics from the rests of a Grp.5 Escort. I was told the pics were taken somewhere in NZ. The signs on the car points to Malaysia (Vaz Maz) and drivers name was Atan. It seems to be a real ZAK build car, but I wonder because off the studs at the rear wheels instead of a central nut. It is your car or know you something about it ? Frank |

The other one was bought from Mr.Klein (Immo Klein Racing) to be driven from Mario Ketterer. First time it stayed in the Mampe colors and than changed to white/blue. They had changed from Goodyear to Pirelli and thats why they had to make the arches wider. After Mr.Klein had stopped Ketter racing his cars the car was parked for a longer time before it was sold to Switzerland. When Mr.Klein passed away all paperwork were destroyed. As far as I know the Boller Escort was operated by Zakspeed. The Klein Escort was operated by themself. Engine work was done from a guy in Oberderdingen/Germany. |

Hi All,
The last year has been interesting to say the least, Christchurch has gone through a lot of changes!! Progress has been slow on the Zakspeed. However things are now all sorted, new engine fitted and we ran the car at the recent Wigram Revival Meeting in Christchurch. Car ran faultlessly all weekend. I have attached a few pictures from the meeting and a link to some in-car video. Hope you enjoy as much as I have enjoyed bringing this thing back from the dead!! Cheers, Gary. Not all Zakspeed Escorts ran Central Nut, some cars had 4 studs. It all depended on year and specifications. Cheers. |

The car looks fantastic Gary. Glad to see you are getting it out on the track for a run.

Here a photo of the Escort with the longer rear 'wings', or whatever you like to call them from my archive's (or rather my website's www.drivven.net archive) original photo slide as promised some time ago. This solution obviously didn't work for high speed purposes, as they didn't use them again it seems. I've not seen other photos showing the rear as clear as this!

I'm pretty sure he is closely linked to Westspeed, but not exactly how. Stunning sound from the BMW M88 engine whenever it ran cleanly! Jesper |

Hi Kurtiejjj,
Thanks, this is one I also have not seen. Not a good look in my opinion! The rear screen louvers are a real 70's item!! Cheers, Gary. |
