Comments on stewards decisions:

Hamilton v Maldanado - Maldanado drive through

Vergne v Kovi - double penalty to Vergne 10 space grid drop

Schumacher - using DRS under yellow - no penalty.

There was nothing wrong with MS using the DRS under Yellows.

Although I get the point about the Vergne and Maldonado penalties matching up.

I'm actually surprised the DRS isn't disengaged if the engagement area is under yellow but if it isn't locked out and he doesn't complete the pass until clear of the yellow. The only thing I can think to make it a penalty is if there is a speed limit for yellow flag areas, ie pit lane speeds only through the area but thought it was just drive with caution and no passing.

If you watch the on board from MW, MS doesn't gain any distance on MW where it is yellow even tho the DRS is open. So he technically was slowing/holding pace which is what they care about not the use of DRS per se.

What St00ge said. Not to mention, TGF was actually being quite smart. As long as he stayed in full control, didn't spin up and damage his rears, and wasn't doing anything against the rules, then keeping the DRS open was just maximising the fuel savings he could make from the SC laps.

TGF is many things, but daft or unaware of the rules and how exploit them are two things he is not.

He was well under the speed Deltas, so then he was respecting the yellows and maximising the fuel saving benefits, probably tyre wear as well!
Damn he is really clever!
