S.Guildford should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Monty Guildford 850cc minimp

Found these old pictures and paper clips (some famous names in there as well) of my dads old mini which he fitted with an imp engine built by George Bevan, he finished it in 1973 after an 18 month build. Does any body remember the car or my father? He also built an imp (lime green) with Rob Mason's fibreglass front, arches etc, this also ran a Bevan 850cc engine.

That is one very impressive Mini. I never knew such a thing existed.

Just interested in the history of this era and was hoping to jog some memories. Forgot to mention the engine was tuned by Bevan but the gear box was designed by my father and built by Peter Wise of Goodland engineering of Tonbridge Kent. The crank was a one off.

Remember the car when it first came out at Lydden, sitting next to it on the grid with the exhaust coming out of the nearside wing. It was quite something at the time and was a lot quicker than our 850 A series engine cars.

Hi kjw. Hope you dont mind but could i ask for your name please as id like my dad to know who's answered this thread....As for the exhaust my mum told me that she used to stand at the near side wing during scrutineering! doubt it would be allowed in these days as it ran no silencers!

the top 850cc A SERIES using a ultra short stroke with a special crank and a eight port head gave if you believed the hype at the time 115bhp between 7500/10000 rpm

a more basic spec semi short stroke based on a 970 s crank and 940 head cooper s head and a 45dcoe may of made 85/90 if well built
