looked interesting enough, close racing, bit of biff, looked hard to pass as the cars are equal.

Still if i had the spare cash, this is where i would probably go

I look forward to buying one of these cars as a track toy in a few years - and then turboing it.

As to the current series, they need to get rid of the ABS. Doesn't seem right to have any driver aids in a development series!

But why get rid of it is in so many GT3 cars? Is this not meant to be a stepping stone?

Watched one of the races. Wasn't bad.

Part I found a little odd was fitting the cars with a big AP brake package.

It assures that the cars won't run out of brakes & crash.. and if there are any failures, its all non-Toyota fare

The commentators frequently mentioned that the cars are very light and then said they weigh 1200kg. Aah, make up your mind.

1200kg is bloody heavy for a naturally aspirated four cylinder race car.

Welcome to the new world of production cars. they are not light anymore with all the extras that they have, especially around safety.

Just a little bit lighter than a v8 supercar

Not many series other than GT3 and production cars allow ABS.

The draft regulations on the CAMS website said without driver

So Mr Johnson would be at some disadvantage from a height/weight perspective, especially compared to some of the juniors

I thought it was more or less standard practice nowadays to set minimum weights 'with driver'.

gts300 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
http://docs.cams.com.au/Manual/Sport...ersion%202.pdf

At page 28 the weight is defined, but its a strange set of rules...

So the car on its own has to be 1200, and the driver at least 85. Big bones like Stephen Johnson are still at a loss, but the youngsters will have to make the driver weight up to 85kg with ballast.

The interesting question is - what is the range in weights of the cars? Are they all coming in under 1200 or are some over that?

See.... it wasn't a silly question...

... but I still don't know if the Honda Accord 4 cylinder at @1570kg includes the driver ?
