DTM - 1:25.175

Depending on which track, 10 sec is believable. Also DTM is capped at 470 HP while we still don't know the official GT500 HP. My guess is something near 600. GT500's are amazing quick. How in the world are these cars faster than cars with better aero efficiently such as LMP2 with similar HP?

Because the P2s produce terrible top speed that is comparable to GT300

DTM have a power output of 500hp, GT500 >550hp and much more torque. At the end DTM performances are in the lmp2 range, GT500 in the middle between LMP1-L and LMP1-H. 10 seconds is too much, 5-6 is more realistic to me. Don't forget also that DTM cars have to use hankook spec tyres, GT500 can use michelin and bridgestone state of art tyres

Let's not forget that the current GT500 cars have purpose-built 4-cylinder engines, compared to LMP2's production-based engines. Heck, I'm guessing that the Nippon Race Engines are made slightly lighter, apart from having more horsepower than DTM.

Meanwhile, I was wondering if the GT500 cars can outrun those DPs with their 2014 upgrades?

judging by COTA laptimes, DP best qual. time was slower than the WEC LMP2 pole... GT500 are faster than WEC LMP2, so...

USCC DP/P2/DW -> slower than ACO LMP2
ACO LMP2 -> slower than ACO LMP1-L
ACO LMP1-L -> slower than GT500

Iirc, the minimum weight for the gt500/super formula engine is 85kg. Very light. I think gt500 will be a lot faster in 2015. New cars, better understanding of the regulations and tire development. At Motegi, the pole lap was faster than Indycar's last trip there!

@TF110

Thanks for pointing out the minimum weight of the engine. I have to say, even though the NRE engine is slightly lighter than the ZEOD's 3-cylinder engine, it sure can put up 550+ horsepower.

He will remain with the team GSR.

Seeing the NRE engine through pictures, I have to admit about putting more power in a small package!

On the other hand, sad that Goodsmile Racing will have to change marque from BMW to Mercedes... Truly is an end of an era!

With the end of the BMW in that beautiful Itasha livery, I think Mercedes will have a better one.

Hatsune Miku SLS? Well that's going to be something to get used to. The (slightly) longer bonnet will be appreciated by the artists and livery designers!

Looking at how well SLS have done in GT300 the change isn't a big surprise.

Sadly though, Mercedes-Benz will eventually replace the SLS with the cheaper SLC AMG GT.

But what the heck, having a long hood is a perfect canvas for putting anime characters!

Then I guess GSR will buy a Mercedes SLS GT3 from the Gainer team because its cheaper than brand new RC-F GT3 and they use SLS AMG GT3 since 2013.

And the Z4 GT3 is perserved for collection only.

@MagVanisher
Take it easy, Mag, Goodsmile Racing change marque from BMW to Mercedes is temporarily( one year) not permanently due to the waiting for the BMW M6 GT3 chassis for next year, perserved for collection for Z4 GT3 chassis and the changes of technical regulation of SRO-BOP.

In my opinion, for next year(2016 season) its recommend GSR switch to the chassis to BMW M6 GT3* because they used 4.4 V8 twin turbo which is similar to the production model but for Mercedes AMG GT GT3 (replace SLS AMG GT3) for next season they used the same 6.2-litre V8 engine as the SLS AMG GT3 instead of the 4.0 V8 twin turbo (similar for production model)

*Note: For M6 GT3 they will be a next generation of BMW M6 for 2017 model (codename G15) , so they buy a BMW M6 GT3 can received a lot of advantaged of the technical specs for the M6 GT3 users, which can be more competitive against Porsche 911 GT3 , Aston Martin GT3 and Bentley GT3. (Which is similar for (#9) Direction Racing for purchasing Mclaren 12C GT3 through the (#2) Car Tokai Dream for next season and can updated to Mclaren 650S GT3 chassis there)
