"One of the most significant announcements in the history of the sport..."
A press release has just been sent out.
"V8 Supercars will make one of the most significant announcements in the history of the sport in Melbourne tomorrow. Senior V8 Supercar Executives will be joined by several special guests to make the major announcement at Crown Casino. The announcement is years in the planning and is certain to surprise." Any ideas ? The release goes on to say it will be at 11am and streamed on the V8 Supercar website. |

A manufacturer re-entering Australian motorsport would be a significant event for 2013
I'm not sure how another make entering a series that has been open to other makes in the not-so recent past, would be "one of the most significant announcements in the history of the sport" OTOH it might just be a dramatic press release of course |

The obvious answer is a new manufacturer, but given that other manufacturers have competed in the series in the past, would a car manufacturer entering the series for the first time in a while really be a "sigificant annoucement in the history of the sport" ?? |

Very inneresting... Nissan/Infiniti have been murmured, they have motorsport form, and they have some form of motivation if they are gonna spend big bucks to brand Infiniti here, lets not forget V8s are only behind AFL football and cricket for audience size.

Indeed the GRM shed these days is a former Gibson Motorsport facility, however it only prepared Holdens and Fords... the Nissan shed was a couple of blocks away... |

From my knowledge Gibsons lived in the other half of the factory, which then became PWR and prepared the Nissan's, Ford's and Holdens out of there. GRM are on the other side of the wall next door. Gibsons also did some work at the old Nissan factory in Clayton, now occupied by various other business, but most noteably by the Walkinshaw group. They say there's still some bits of Nissan engines logde in the walls of the dyno chambers.....

V8 Supercars will announce that they will race around the beautiful island of Vanuatu, TC and his staff have convinced the Vanuatu government that, Vanuatu's vibrant tourism industry will increase 100000 fold once the greatest motor racing series the world has ever seen, stage a race around their crappy island. They have also convinced them that handing over their country's entire finacial wealth for said privledge would be a good idea.
Vanuatu will benefit from V8 Supercars just as Canberra, Hamilton and Sydney have before them |
