Do Chester Sports Cars make their own Sports 1000 or just build ADRs? I would like to see it if they do have their own design, being very interested in that sort of thing.

No the only place to get an ADR 1000 I think is ADR themselves...

I though I was aware of every sports 1000 in existence or construction... as I've been keeping tabs on them

Slayer - what is yours - I know nothing about it. Tell me more, do the 750 club know of it?

ADR are interesting. Send them emails requesting prices for a test and possible race hire drive.
Response is zero..

Hi,

Thanks for the update on the ADR situation.

Our car is in the early stages of design with a view to competing in the 2005 series. We hope to sell replicas of it when it proves itself competitive (goes without saying of course ) and if there is sufficient interest, which, judging by the response on this thread, there will be.

It will be of a modern, LMP675 style and not retro - sorry to disappoint . We hope to make use of a few routes of development which so far have not been pursued by our competitors.

The 750MC don't know about it currently. At present, only I, the readers of this thread and a few friends know of it. It's all been a big secret However, our site (www.sports1000.net) will be going live shortly, and there will be the afore-mentioned Sports 1000 Forum and regular updates on the project, so that everyone can know how we are progressing.

In a finished state?

In the CAD - three to four months. As I mentioned, this is the early stages and I don't want to rush things and end up with a inferior product due to an effort to get it out the door early. The Reynard 2KQ springs strongly to mind.

In the steel and fibreglass - dependent on investment and interest but definitely before next season.

I apologise in advance if this is disappointing to anyone but it could be improved immeasurably with a little investment. If anyone out there feels like becoming a shareholder in an up-and-coming racing and sports car manufacturer, we're all ears . It need not be cash - appropriate services and products would be a welcome form of investment at this stage.

Well good luck to you with the project, but if we are to keep the 750mc interested in continued support for the series you really need to join the club & register your interest in the series, a small price in the scheme of things.
We at adr will continue to sponsor the series, but the drivers need to get their car out, ASAP

Thanks for the kind words. I am already a member of the 750MC. How do go about registering my interest in the series? I already emailed Robin Knight about it when I joined up and he sent me the regulations.

Telephone, or e-mail Robin Knight, & ask him for the sports 1000 registration forms, if you can complete these it will show & regiter with the club another serious potential competitor.
If I can be any help with your project, I will be glad to provide assistance, we have full CAD facilities & CNC machining,& I promise I wont pinch your ideas!!!.
Lets get the series going!

How very kind of you to offer to help out a potential competitor! I think that says it all about the friendly and welcoming nature of club motorsport. I want to see this series succeed as much as you do. I think it has great potential now and with more and more cars and design philosopies out there, it will be one of the best series of club level racing.

Thanks again .

I had a look at the regulations in PDF form that Robin sent me previously and there is a 2004 registration form at the end of that. Is this the form that you mean? I didn't send it off as they seemed to me to be for someone who intends to compete this year. Plus I don't have a name for my car yet, so I felt that I couldn't fill in that bit

I will definitely be there next year though, so I hope the formula is too. I'd hate for it to disappear whilst I am beavering away. Maybe I should just write into the 750MC bulletin and tell them about my plans. That way, a fair few people will know that there is more interest in Sports 1000 and we will get a bit of publicity for our car.

That's a very good idea - just to let them know I'm serious, eh? I'm still investigating the aero side of things, so the bodywork is not very far along. I have, however, begun modelling my proposed mechanical design so perhaps that will appropriate.

I must apologise for not replying to my earlier posts sooner as I have been having a manic time at work....

I'm glad to see that there is some enthusiasm about the future of this series, despite my initial fears. As mentioned before, the series would really benefit from getting the potential competitors together for a couple of races so people can really see what the series is all about - and hopefully encourage more racers/constructors.

I have now added a forum to our site (www.sports1000.net) which I hope can develop into a place where competitors and manufacturers can get together and push the series forward.

There is a co-ordinator for S1000. He is Charles Vacy-Ash. I am sure he would be extremely glad to know of a number of potential competitors. Contact 750MC Secretary, Robin Knight for his tel no. Robin's is +[44] 1379-741641.
