[BTCC] Round 5 - Croft, 1st June 2008

Hi,

We're at Croft for round 5 - as Onslow-Cole makes a play for the title.

We're still short on Allison, though he may be back from the next race. It's not certain if his seat will be filled.

Else we're all there (I assume everyone's stopped waiting on Team 48? )

Don't forget the predictions competition

Yea, it's definitely round 5 - quite early in the year to be reaching the halfway point of the championship.

TOC is talking about himself as a championship contender; a strong performance here and it might be worth taking him seriously.

I rekon we have more chance of MG returning with Mansell leading the assult

Any one know where the Alfas are now as A-Tech has been wound up?

Allison said he has budget for Snetterton (home race). Weather for this weekend is looking cloudy and windy but no rain forecast (yet....)

i think the SEAT's are gonna struggle with the twisty tight bits especially the hairpin as they have a smaller turning circle than any other car

An Inevitable read really regarding team 48's non appearance, seems to suggest the deal with A-Tech is the hold up or manybe the actual cash to buy the cars. Reading between the lines they appear to suggest they may buy another brand which makes me think of the Lexus's which would be cheaper than the Alfas.

My take on it is that Team48 have failed to find the funding they needed to race. I don't think A-Tech are to blame, it appears that they wanted payment befoe they'd release their cars.

The comment at the end seems to be that the the technical team are ready to race, they just need some money and cars!

2nd one was for Erkut in the wall, according to TSL.

Edit - what is it with Seat ride height this year? Turner's car has just failed the check.

And in a odd reversal - looks like Shedden hasn't gotten away with that excuse this time.

Another red flag - Shedden's going to have just under 3 minutes to set a time once they restart.

The top 14 is pretty close in times and Giovanardi's the heaviest car out there.

I'm sure he'll bide his time till race two.

The session was also a disaster for Andrew Jordan - a hero at Thruxton two weeks ago - when his John Guest Racing Honda Integra suffered persistent gearbox problems.
