2015 WTCC Race of Russia
18 cars entered for Moscow
http://moscowraceway.ru/news/announcement/2008 No 2nd Munnich car, Rydell seems to return, as well as a 3rd Lada. However considering this: http://wtccblog.com/2015/05/lada-tested-a-new-driver/ I'm not sure it will be driven by Kozlovskiy. Though it remains a mystery who tested the car. But it would be strange to fire a Russian before the Russian round http://www.touringcars.net/2015/05/r...cturer-in-2016 Meanwhile, Munnich should enter their secong permanent driver from Slovakia onwards which confirms previous speculation that they've signed a driver. And some good speculation is that Proteam should be back for 5 events |

Well-put. Farewell race Kozlovskiy. Mr Huff, be careful - you're the next in list.

I think Huff is the only one performing on par at Lada? I would be surprised if they'd fire him as well.

If Lada don't get someone from Super TC2000 then, it's better to stay with van Lagen. Still think that only Argentinians know how to handle powerful FWD machinery and Thompson is a good example of those who stayed in the past with 2L Touring. I'm not saying that he's a second hand driver, but he just doesn't fill in the puzzle right now.

I think, Lopez is just an outstanding talent. He could also handle RWD BMW very well, which was already outdated at that time!!! Girolami has to prove, if he is really same talent than Lopez. Maybe Van Lagen got same times too at the test? |

I don't think only Argentinians can be fast, but I do think they have an advantage at the moment as they're using similar cars. 400hp on the front wheels isn't too easy to adapt to.

Well, I should have mentioned, that I meant the disposition at the moment. For sure, if Europeans had the same touring class with absolutely mad FWD and same mad tracks for 10 or so years, then a participation in WTCC would look like a resort tour for them. Besides, WTCC pilots are able to have some trainings even in Europe, since there's Audi TTRS II with specs close to TC2000. In fact, Huff had done so.

Besides, it's Nicky Catsburg who's going to drive the third Lada at Moscow Raceway. He's really quick with GTs, as van Lagen is, so there's a hope for a strong performance. As for Mikhail Kozlovsky - well, Lada is not drivers' support program as SMP Racing (where almost everything depends on whether Sergey Zlobin name a driver as a quick, perspective or not) or Lukoil in some way. Lada is a works team, so they need fast drivers who can deliver desirable results.

Interesting! Catsburg is a very fast and experienced driver indeed, but has very limited recent FWD experience.

Well, Lada now has a pretty strong line up. Though I don't know much about Catsburg. But I think he is better than Kozlovskiy. To be honest, Michael showed no progress during his 2 year in the championship, so it's a move forward

That's interesting, this article from the official site suggests that Van Lagen is confirmed not just for Moscow but for the rest of the year as well

I hate the way the compensation ballast system works in WTCC. how in the world does Citroen dominating lead to a weight gain for Chevy and Honda? there should be more than just 60kg for Citroen, it should be more like 160kg the way it looks now.
Car – Final Weight – Ballast Citroën C-Elysée WTCC – 1,160kg – +60kg Chevrolet RML Cruze TC1 – 1,140kg – +40kg Honda Civic WTCC – 1,120kg – +20kg Lada Vesta WTCC – 1,100kg – +0kg |

Rickard Rydell had to watch the test session from the pits as the team trailer has been stuck in customs for four days.

We have another 1-2 for Citroen, but Gabriele is much closer. Great qualifying for Lada, would love to see them get a win this weekend.

So there we have it, 4 currently running world champions in the top 4, 4 makes in Q3. But still dissapointed a bit with the results, thought Honda would be better

Awesome Race 2, I've forgot when I enjoyed a WTCC race so much, probably in the good old days. That's what you get whet 3 makes are close together. Race 1 was good too (for a Race 1 of course). And Moscow seems to be a great track for touring cars, I hope they won't dump it for Sochi for example

Lopez had a regular weekend, 2nd in Race 1 and 12th (jump start penalty) in Race 2, but is still the leader.

Well, Tarquini said after qualifying, that it's almost impossible to overtake there. After the first race I could agree with him, but the second one was much more interesting. Maybe just nobody cared about cars to destroy.

Superb race 2, the best of 2015 season.
Lada love to see this level of performance. The championship which tightens between Lopez and Muller. Roll on the next round! |
