Sounds a little complicated, but depending on how this works in VASC this weekend, sounds like a good BTCC idea for Brands Indy and Knockhill 2019 https://www.motorsport.com/v8superca...ained-1021665/

No thanks. Traffic on the smaller circuits is all part of the entertainment of qualifying.

And Gow has been against the idea of tinkering with qualifying, preferring to concentrate on the race factor

Has there been any public announcement of the 30kg weight penalty for RWD?

Never saw that news report.

Once again, behind the scenes tinkering all done in secret with no transparency to the public. Poor form in my view.

Nice to see the BTCC getting a mention on the evening news, even if it is only regional news

Seen it reported on several sites as part of reviews of the RWD cars/drivers chances. The thing I haven't seen is the changes that apply only to the Subaru that a few people have eluded to.

Yes, I am wondering too. Apart from hearsay I've not seen any official statement that the lump is the boxer or the TOCA.

If it's the TOCA then one assumes the weight added near the dash to raise the centre of gravity has been removed?

I would like clarity as if the car is crap we're just going to get JP carping on and won't be able to determine if he has a fair point or not!

I was being facetious incase anyone was wondering.....

We have to accept that this sort of thing will never be made public because the btcc is an entertainment series and they don't want to complicate anything for the casual uneducated fan.

Why though? Other series publish BOP changes, GTE, TCR, GT3. Even Formula E with its idiotic "fanboost" is made public knowledge.

If they are that casual and uneducated they aren't going to care about such things anyway, so in which case why not make them public?

I don’t see why they should hide it, for us close fans it’s always better if we know the full facts to know what is going on and why

If they tell you what they are doing then you will see just how the races get manipulated to ensure a grand finale....just my cynical view of course...

It's the boxer engine still being used, just been tuned by Swindon, now.

I heard that the reason there wasn't much running by BMR at Media day and comparative lack of times, was due to the engines being on restricted mileage.

LIQUI MOLY sponsorship on all four of the AmD cars - good to see even more big sponsors in the series!

They've always been open about weight and gearing changes etc in the past. The thing they seem to keep to themselves is changes that apply only to one model of car.

Having said that it doesn't matter how much info they give out a large chunk of the fan base pay no attention whatsoever. I guarantee the BTCC FB page will be full of people asking where Shedden is and where the fourth Subaru is etc tomorrow.

"Tom Ingram tops the times in FP1.

Jack Goff, Tom Chilton, Matt Simpson, Sam Tordoff, Dan Cammish, Rory Butcher, Josh Cook, Colin Turkington and Adam Morgan round out the top 10 – just 0.273s between the lot of them and less than one second between 1st and 30th! "
