bluespur should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
The problem I have with the commentators is that they almost exclusively concentrate on the first 8 or so cars (mind you I should be surprised as that is the normal practise in almost all sports) - I am only watching GP2 to see how Mitch goes and it is a little frustrating - am continually counting the cars when a length appears to see how he is going.

agree that the 'bunnies' professionalism must be questioned regarding the fastest time - surely they have lap timing screens in front of them

Yes I noticed that too Mark re: lap record, from memory I think it was a 1.58.5 something which I think was half a second quicker than anyone else on the day. Impressive stuff and just the way he carves thru the field EVERYTIME is just so impressive.

Agree 100% on the lame commentators too, and agree that the poms do seem to focus on the poms. Admittedly it was Jolyons first race win (I think) and his old man is a fairly influential figure (a bit like our Mark Petch!!).

I would say send Shane Drake over instead, but on second thoughts.....

When I was in a Singas's this time last year the best commentator hands down was Neil Crompton, but that was only at the track, not on the telly.

Crompo and his ice cream headaches and slide rulers crack me up all the time.

So, shall we look into some predictions for R2? I think if Mitch starts today in 11th, then he will defo get in to top ten, but I am thinking that 'Mr I will pass you where others can't' could even make top 5.

Anyone else got that same thought?

Also his mentor Webber is doing ok(ish) for the GP.

God I miss the frozen Margueritas!!

Agreed on the commentators.

Mitch is also in a good position with the tyres, given he used the supersofts yesterday. The guys starting 6th, 7th, 8th will be starting on 10 lap old mediums, where as Mitch (and I guess a few around him) will have brand new ones.

Anyone know what happened to Mitch in the last 8 laps, he seemed to lose a bit of pace at the end? Looked like he made a bit of contact coming out of turn five.

I cant answer that Q' Heycoop, but was gutted for Mitch to have been tagged at T8 (at least I think it was T8) which effectively ruined his race.

Still though, he currently sits 13th equal with one round to go. Surely he must get rookie of the year for his performance in GP2. I think another year or two in that series and F1 teams will be taking a close look at him.

Owen must be a proud man

Woo-hoo! And this now negates the depression felt this morning when we effectively lost the farce that is Americas Cup

Yes agree a well deserved drive for Hayden. As the article says he was setting times faster than drivers in full WRC cars. Lets hope if goes well.

How awesome is that? well done to Scott Dixon and his 3rd championship.
Great stuff.
Now its Mitch's turn to win a title in the next year or two, plus Paddon to win WRC....

Brilliant for Scotty - I've met him a couple of times and he's a super friendly laid-back type Kiwi, the success has never gone to his head. His wife's a babe too it has to be said

Aren't they funny looking cars though!

Oh yeah, forgot about that.

Is this a one off at this stage, or has he got a budget for more rounds? Will be interesting to see what he does next year.

I hope HP or JK do not break anything in the Ford Fiesta WRC.
It will be interesting to see where HP can hopefully finish knowing that the likes of Ostberg and Neuville have the new & latest bits on their cars.

He said on Te News last night that he is just treating this as another round and is taking a fairly relaxed approach to it. Clever approach in my view.

Personally I think he will do well enough to impress the important people, and knowing how competitive he is, he may well pull something of a surprise out of the bag.

Its locked and loaded on the mysky anyway....wouldn't miss this for the world

And some more of his work is on here. The behind the scenes articles he has done for the past week or so are quite interesting

That is awesome. He looks so comfortable in that car.....the kid has got talent in bucket loads. Loved the footcam shots showing the left foot modulation braking technique.
I am probably looking thru rose tinted glasses but I really believe he can be a world champion of wrc soon. In fact I will almost go as far and say that given time, he could be as great as the greatest that in my view is Loeb. Makes ya proud to be kiwi doesn't it. Thanks to those above who have posted the viewing times on sky...very helpful
