I think the support package is complete rubbish, the only good things in it are the Clios. The Lotus's are OK at best, but the rest of thr package stinks.

Its not that bad, but i still dont think its as good as in previous years. I preferred when there were permanent suppoprt championships-my ideal choice would be;
Clios F Renault Fiestas F Ford Lotuses Historic Touring Cars |

The support package at the meetings without guest races looks very thin with just Clios, Lotuses & FR- most of the others aren't too bad, particularly Thoroughbred GP cars, International Supersports & best of all the Minis, which ought to be a permanent feature

Its a shame we lost the Fiestas and F Ford to PowerTour, though.

What i can't understand is why you are all whining about this, instead of taking the pragmatic view and going to meetings where you can watch some good racing like the powertour, 750MC, Aston Martin Owners Club, etc. There plenty of race meeting out there which are not only cheaper than Touring Cars, but also offer better entertainment.
C'mon, broaden your minds |

Yes, without a doubt! For anyone who doesn't go to other race meetings, there is life beyond the BTCC, honest!
I'm not thrilled with this year's support package, but it does include 3 of my favourite series as guest races (and at meetings I'm likely to be able to go to...). If you are missing the Fiestas of Formula Ford or whatever, then go along to a Powertour meeting- I personally think that the GT's were the best thing in British motor racing last year, and F3 is usually worth watching |

This would be my ideal support package:
Renault Clios Lotus Formula Saloons British GT's Ford Fiestas Mini's Historic Touring Cars National Saloon Cars (Wait...they are gone, scratch that!) Um...Can't think of anymore, anyone else suggest some? |

I guess each man to his own. I went to Powertour in 99' (GT's F3 etc) and thought it was a complete yawn fest.

As you say, each man to his own- Personally though, much as I hate saying it- (I've been watching Touring Cars for a long time- since 1985) for the last couple of years the BTCC has been a real yawn fest- hopefully this year will be a return to form

We seem to have gained an extra Support race at Donington in July- I've just been looking at the calendar for the Euro GT series (not the FIA one- this is what used to be the Kumho Porsche/Ferrari cup), and they seem to be at Donington 30 June/1July- ie the BTCC meeting. Anyone know where that's sprung from?
BTW- I've just realised why people are repeating threads, & starting new ones, rather than replying to existing ones. It took ages to find this again....... |

I can't imagine seeing a ton of Clios going round and no Activeshop. I have to say I will miss the team terribly.
Will be thinking of you at Monza on Saturday and Sunday Rickster 51 |

It is going to seem odd that we won't know any Clio drivers this year. HPL won't be there either
Hope things go well at Monza at the weekend |

Perhaps we oughtn't to knock FRenault either, we might see next year's crop of F1 intake...and not even know it.

I doubt it-we've heard Max Mosely's view on the subject. I can't see another Kimi Raikonen in FRenault this year. (Sorry if this should be in the F1 Forum).

SUPPORT RACE SERIES NEEDS A BIT OF SPICE - WHY NOT TURN JOIN THE POWERTOUR AND TOCA TOUR TOGETHER ARE THEY NOT BOTH RUN BY BMP ?
YOU COULD INTEGRATE THE ENTIRE BRITISH NATIONAL MOTORSPORT SCENE THERE IS ENOUGH FORMULA TO HAVE FOUR SERIES, WITH TWO EACH WEEKEND!! HAPPENING AT DIFFERENT ENDS OF THE COUNTRY ON DIFFERENT WEEKENDS OF COURSE YOU COULD HAVE SALOONS BTCT BTCP FIESTAS LOTUS CLIOS HISTORIC SALOONS SINGLE SEATERS F3 EURO/UK BOSS FORMULA FFORDS RENAULT SPORT CLASSIC FFORDS ARP F3 US RACERS ASCAR V-SPORT V8 V-SPORT V6 LEGENDS ETC, ETC (CANT THINK OF ANY OTHER US STYLE SERIES IN UK) SPORTSCARS MGF BRIT GTS TVR PORSCHES CLASSIC PORSCHE HISTORIC GT SERIES |

A quick check through this year's Autosport events calendar reveals some 76 different race championships, plus a further 20 regional championships and 7 winter championships. That doesn't include many of the Historic/Classic formulas, trucks, karts, etc. Then there's the visiting series such as F1, F3000, GTs, EuroTC, ALMS, CART, Thouroughbred GPs, Sportscars, etc, etc. |

I am a tin tops fan so Huntsthehunt's program for support races gets my backing
I suppose the guest races will give some variety but entertainment will depend on what the guest races is Spoonerbro - caps = shouting and it's hard to read after a few glasses of wine |

Yes, even harder to read after numerous "aftershocks" and "vodkaredbulls" but i think the BTCC suports should be tin tops
MGF Cup Fiestas Clios Lotus's TVR's Minis thats a support package! |
