Now Petrov improved even further to .010 ahead of the Rebellion with a 1:37.034. Back at the front of the non-Toyota camp.

I wonder how fast the LMP1-P will go in this test i think they could end up in the low or high 1:35's.

They are encouraging in a sense - especially from the Swiss Oreca that's basically still shakedown'ing - and I think by tomorrow afternoon they might be in the '35? HOWEVER, right now it's night time and engines work like a charm now, in contrast to the shocker times Toyota set in the warmth of the sun... also when the track had more traffic. So I don't think we can really compare them that much...

The only LMP1 car doing long stints is Toyota too, all the others never go beyond 10-15 laps, while TMG marches on with the simulation and has 28 lap record on longest stint.

If you look at the sector-2 differences between the AER low downforce Dallaras, and Zytek high downforce Dallara, I think it may hint that just like the LMP2 last year, the chassis is going to be absolute killer on straights at LM... reminds to be seen where else but looks O.K on s1 and 3 too

While Ginetta is looking bit lackluster, most certainly in the laps they've gathered, at least they had the common sense in registering themselves for the night running after all. The second delayed chassis is doing some lappery again it seems passed the LMP2 leader just as of writing.

Anyway, it doesn't really matter if the gaps to Toyota are just as big come Le Mans, Pug dominated Audi by 2,2-3,8 seconds in qualifying in 2010 and look at what happened... and this is Toyota we're talking about lol

Right now, the SMP is doing laps in the low to mid 38's. Toyota is doing laps in the mid 38's to low 39's. They're a few tenths to a half second faster right now. Also the #5 Manor is getting in on the action with it's first meaningful laps.

Spoke too soon, everyone bar Toyota and Darren Turner's Aston Martin are in the pits. Looks like that run by the SMP was short lived.

Looks like Toyota is gunning for a 24hr endurance run at this test. Pretty impressive.

Aston Martin is just as impressive if not more impressive in that aspect. The Toyota has 429 laps as of me typing this, the #95 Aston has 426!

I think the #7 has a hybrid issue, or they are simulating one to see of they can be competitive if they have one. Since the end of the first 8 hour session they have been lapping solidly in the 38-39s and with 2 S2 time that over 2 seconds slower than their best.S2 is very short and it's almost all straight line speed.

Could be using older tires too?

They loose less in the other 2 sectors which are more about grip, than power. And this pattern has been going on for some hours. There is definitely something wrong with the car or they are simulating an issue. The other option is that they tested higher fuel flow than what they are allowed before, but i don't see why they would do that.

Toyota could be running at reduced pace to try and get longer stints as well. Lots of different things but I don't think there's an issue. Some laps they do 38's, then they do 39's.

The 34.6 wasn't a glory run. They also have almost no traffic. They should be in the 35s and 36s, not 38s and 39s. At the current pace the privateers will beat them, and at Le Mans where engine power is makes a bigger impact than the hybrid system the gap would be even bigger.

Who knows, but you do sense they should be turning laps faster than they are. Ant is currently turning 1:40's and 1:41's.

This from Sportscar365:
Toyota didn’t improve on its times set on Friday, with the manufacturer running only its No. 7 TS050 Hybrid through the full test.

The car slowed on track a couple of times during the early hours of Saturday morning, but managed to return to the pits and continue without reports of major issues.

I watched the scoring for a long while and saw some 2-3 minute laps show up. Either it was nothing major, like running out of fuel or they're simulating problems because they were never in the garage for anything more than 20 or 30 minutes. Would be interesting to know!

Turbodcc should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I put my money on those quick Toyota times not been realistic. They want to win, the privateers want to win, the rules are there to allow Toyota to win, barring failures.

I think Toyota have gone out early yesterday and tried to lure out the privateers into setting quicker times. The track may have changes, but I would not be surprised if those times brought the Toyota outside their legal energy usage per lap. And the "should be quicker" turbocharged privateer cars didnt fall for it. No doubt some of them are sandbagging.

I don't think the private teams are sandbagging. They're too close to have all decided to sandbag to the same level. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think the times are decently representative.
