Biggy G should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
NZV8's 2011/12

First round in a few weeks, looks like we have a list of drivers on the NZV8 website now: http://www.nzv8s.co.nz/pages/7/drivers.htm

14 drivers currently sitting there, anyone know if this is likely to be the final number? Andrew Anderson isn't on the site, but the ITM Racing FB page indicates they are ready to go?

That list looks a bit dull to me with less than a handful of really good drivers. The Swift field could be even bigger.

considering how many have jumped ship.. anything over 16 will be a bonus.

from facebook..

The final programme close off is next Wednesday, and the driver list will be put on the website sometime on Thursday. It does include a really competitive lineup!

noticed Matt Lockwood's name is missing from the list.. so it's probably not completed.

will anyone get near this.. in the new Sports GT class?

Carl Hansen’s very quick TVR Tucson has undergone a complete rebuild and upgrade during the past two seasons while it has not been racing. The TVR will be a top competitor in the new Sports GT category during the summer NZ Championship series.

The almost legendary 351ci Rover V8 has been replaced by a 401 cu in custom-built Ford V8 which should produce around 800 hp and will drive through a six-speed Hollinger gearbox, and also have new brakes, suspension parts etc.

As if it was not fast enough already! Oh well, you need to keep moving forward otherwise you will go backward

Interesting, doesn't look half bad either! Still running a carburettor I see, does anyone know the engine spec. for this new car? Same as the old ones, or an update?
I understand the teams running Holden engines were having issues getting suitable blocks, as they have been out of production for many years. And NZV8's insisting on the "DNA" remaining true, so that means Ford and Holden (or maybe GM?) engines one would think?

With even Nascar moving to injection next year (since running carbs from 1949!) there can't be too many new classes of Motorsport persisting with this old technology.

i'm not sure if a decision has been made about what engines the new cars will run. so i'll take a punt and saying they're using a current BNTV8 spec engine.. so they can test the new chassis.

Paul Manuell has just confirmed that he will be racing at the Fujitsu 200, Pukekohe next weekend in his ORIX Commodore amongst the BNT V8s field.

Gee, do you think Sports GT will get "as-live" TV coverage now there's a TMC guy in the field. Even if they don't have a class sponsor, I bet they will. Mark my words and see if I'm right - have a look on TV3 next weekend...

Sports Gt is looking like a good series and a worthy addition.

Looks like if they get another 4 or 5 NZV8 cars out there it will be a pretty decent field. I imagine there might be a few other unused ones out there as well that may as well get some miles on them before they are obsolete.

TV3 promo-ing the "BTN" V8's... I'd hope someone at NZV8 HQ is currently on the phone asking for a nice make-good schedule...

Also saw the commercial for this weekend's round at Pukekohe.

Personal opinion, but I thought the blurring of the lap counter in a few of the clips used in the commercial looked VERY amatuer hour (I wouldn't have thought clean footage would have been that hard to come by and would have resulted in a commercial that looked at least somewhat professional)...

Certainly not an opening salvo I'd be happy with if I'd chosen to stick with MSNZ/TMC rather than jump ship to the other lot...
