Jesper OH should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid

Indeed, so I won't make any further updates untill new info emerges. Grids for R6 Silverstone and R9 at Snetterton seems to be the two biggest gaps at the moment and a few more rounds does miss qualifying times. Still scratching my head over the points situation of class B, but will return with that at a later stage.

Notes:
Missing bonus points likely for Andy Rouse (3) and Dave Brodie (1)
Pete Hall finished last overall and fourth in class at round 5 at Thruxton, but don't know the number of laps he completed. He could have been classified as "Not classified" on this ground thus receiving no points ...and the point calculations would match.
Brian Chatfield has been devided into his Ford Capri starts and his BMW starts in the BTCC classification. I have combined both simply because this was a drivers championship.
Tom Walkinshaw winning his only start, but not registered for the championship. But note that Andy Rouse only received 6 points as best registered driver!

Class B (1601-2500 cc):

Notes:
Missing bonus points likely for Rob Kirby (1), Phil Dowsett (1), Terry Drury (1). This is very speculative so I don't trust myself too much on this matter.
Richard Longman has two points too many from my calculations and don't know why.
Graham Goode deducted 10 points for being disqualified at round 8 and probably more.

Notes:
Missing bonus points likely for Chris Hodgetts (1), Richard Belcher (1), Tony Crudgington (1) and Geoff Kimber-Smith (3!, more likely 1).
The 3 point difference for Geoff Kimber-Smith I can't explain except as a calculation mistake (the BTCC page or mine) or that one of his DNFs were in fact eligeble for 2 or 3 points.

Legend:
9, 6, 4, 3, 2, 1 points for top-6 positions
6, 4, 0 points for top-3 positions?
* indicates bonus point for fastest race lap, though missing from rounds 5, 8, 9 and 12
[] indicates position outside top-6 in class
() indicate dropped worst scores
DNF did not finish
DSQ disqualified
DNS did not start
- indicates no participation
Best 9 from 12 rounds to be counted

Jesper
The bonus points added completes the standings of class A, although Pete Hall still has 3 points too many by my calculations.

The bonus points added makes the class B points even worse than they were! Have found the Autosport issue covering round 4 with a top-10 standing saying that Graham Goode led overall with 30 points and that Jon Dooley had 14 in 10th. This would suggest that Goode got the bonus point for fastest lap at round 2 contradicting the information given on these pages. Anyway it will only screw things up in the end, so..
I also have the issue covering round 7, again with Goode negative by 1 point/Dooley positive by 1 point by my calculations, while the rest of the overall top-10 matches.

In class C Chris Hodgetts comes now out with 1 point to many, but found another point standing among my files stating that Geoff Kimber-Smith actually only scored 21 points as my calculations suggest, not the 24 from the BTCC page. Unfortunately I don't know the source of this info.
This same source also has a top-10 standings for manufactures, reading like this:
1. Ford Escort RS1600i, 81 points (105) (60 points by r7)
2. Ford Sierra XR4Ti, 81 points (87) (45 points by r7)
3. Alfa Romeo GTV6, 60 points (41 points by r7)
4. Mitsubishi Colt Starion Turbo, 48 points
5. Ford Escort RS Turbo, 42 points
6. BMW 635CSi, 35 points
7. Toyota Corolla GT, 34 points
8. Nissan Bluebird Turbo, 33 points (51) (41 points by r7)
9. Toyota Celica Supra, 18 points
10. Ford Capri, 2 points

I think a few more point standings over the year would be helpfull to dial in where and when the misfit points arises from. Both Rob Kirby and Chris Hodgetts matches my calculations but somehow scores 1 point too many over the last five races!

Jesper, in the points table you have Dooley and Hodgetts only scoring 6 points for a win in R5.

I'm aware of that, but only three class B (and C respectively) competitors took the restart. In later years that would have meant a drop in points and that's the reason why I have applied the 6-4-nothing scale here. In lack of better evidence, I'm leaving the standings as they are, but hoping to have some more round-by-round standings.

In R12 there are only 3 entries in B but full points are awarded to the only finisher.

As you rightly point out it is very confusing.

Beware that it's my interpretation and might be totally wrong. But as this is the best I can come up with, I'm in need of some help. Likely Kirby only scored 6+1 points for that final win, but that would mean he will be 2 points down on the official score!

Like I've done for the other threads, I'll do a composite entry list, covering all of the cars that appeared over the season, to see if we can tie up some of the gaps for race numbers, entrants & sponsors etc. 1985 is one of the easier ones- I think we've got the majority, but there are a few loose ends and queries to answer...

Dave Brodie fielded a second Starion at the GP and the final round at Silverstone for guest drivers Vern Schuppan and Kunimitsu Takahashi, the two Starions being numbered 5 and 6. Brodie also may have used both cars himself over the course of the season, as I've seen 1985 photos featuring both race numbers
For example, Round 10 at Brands, where he finished 3rd behind Walkinshaw and Rouse, both Autosport and MN's reports have pics clearly showing the car carrying no5, but I've also seen a photo posted on the Autosport forum showing the Starion leading the Pete Hall Rover at Donington- clearly showing no6.

I've also seen a Silverstone pic showing car 6 with distinctive dayglo red stripes on the front bumper, possibly to distinguish between the two cars when the team ran both? These stripes are certainly absent in other pics showing car 6- they're also absent in a pre-GP meeting pic from Autosport showing Brodie and Schuppan posing with the two Starions...

I'll take a look at the other 1985 race reports I've got, to see if I can work out which car/race number was used at which race....

Reviving this thread after a year! Dan Morgan is continuing to post 80's Donington ETC round pics on Flickr, and has reached 1985- including the BTCC round held at the same meeting

http://www.flickr.com/photos/mendama...th/6059411526/

I still haven't totally got my head round the question of which of his two Starions (and which race number!) Dave Brodie used at which round, although these pics confirm he ran the #6 car at Donington.

My current theory is that he used the #6 car early-season, and swapped to the #5 car later in the year- I suspect the change came around the GP support round, as a pic of the two cars from the Autosport report announcing Vern Schuppan's GP meeting drive a week or two before the GP shows Brodie with the #5 car and Vern Schuppan with #6.
