John, the wonderful snow is melting and turning into "sleurtch"! Passed the impression to be inside a snow dome, back to an ugly and dirty reality. Anyway, the Yorkies had great moments, a good occasion to test snow shoes. We're ready for next Monte Carlo!

It's melting here too & the sun is shining. I hope it will all have disappeared by morning. If it disrupts my plans for the weekend I will not be happy!

I am anticipating a very nice weekend, thank you Gerard. I hope you have the same.
I presume you mean slush. We have now had some rain so I hope it does not freeze tonight. |

It has been freezing the last two nights, then snowing again.
Yes slush is correct, sleurtch is a common word in Quebec patois. Which becomes tabarn** when your snow scooter is stuck into. |

In most jobs I found it quite common to learn more about almost anything, especially the job at hand, in tea breaks than through any other approach. When smoking in the office was eliminated one had to go out with the smokers to the smoking room (in the case of where I was working at the time. They built a rather nice garden room, as it was a rural location, for the remaining smokers) because most of them were the people who knew stuff that was worth knowing. In fact mostly they were the only people who knew stuff that was worth knowing. |

Having been watching a few Youtubes of saloons lately, it makes me wonder when a) green lag laps were introduced and b) weaving to warm up tyres and heavy braking were introduced? When I was a lad, I am certain that we just drove around the circuit from the pits/paddock and formed up on the grid. Engines were turned off, and at the 1 minute board they would be fired up again, the grid would be cleared and the race proper would be started at the end of the minute.
As for warming up the brakes, if other cars were anything like mine, then you had to be very gentle with them getting on to the grid. And then you prayed that they would actually last until the end of the race. That is not an exaggeration as on one 10 lap race at Brands, the brakes were totally ineffectual whilst driving back to the paddock, causing me to gently bump into the car in front when we held up going into the tunnel - luckily no damage to either car. |

You know you’re getting old when..... Someone doesn’t just hold open a door for you- they go out of their way to open it. OK, I was carrying kit bag in one hand and shopping in other.
BTW, one for Max. I see from the OZ forum that a race suit manufacturer has been selling race suits with an out of date homologation. Were they S. Hemisphere based only? Exciting moment in the Winter Olympics- we were on course for a silver medal at one point, but managed to finish 7th. Phew, that was close- but on the other hand, if the athlete had got a medal we’d have had to listen to the beeb eulogising over it for the next week! |

The bloke who caused that earlier Oz problem with counterfeit suits set up in the UK not long after and had his homologation revoked. I did highlight some of his gear on here and I am glad to be proved right. FWIW I'm not in the racewear market much these days. The kart team has totally overtaken my life and if one doesn't tend to a business one reaps the results. I'm keeping the web site active so that when I get too old for running round a kart track I can return to it. Next week then Sent from my EVA-L09 using Tapatalk |
