Roy Salvadori (1922-2012)
Dailysportscar reports that Roy has passed away at the age of 90. Both of the 1959 Le Mans-winning drivers gone in the space of about a month.

RIP Roy, what a gentleman and a fantastic driver.
Thats three Aston related deaths in about a month, Carroll Shelby, Roy Salvadori and Ted cutting, thanks for the memories guys. |

One of the great all-rounders. Very,very competitive, but a good clean driver.
Good enough IMO to have had better works drives in F1 at his peak. RIP. |

90? I had it in my head he was in his seventies. Quantity and quality in life. RIP.

Great driver and a proper gent. One of those names I grew up with. Great loss but a great innings, too.

One of the many driver of that generation who was overlooked and underrated by so many.
Again, people talk of gentlemen in that era and it is bandied around some without real intent, but Roy really WAS one, a legend and one of our finest. |

Sad but as has been said he had a very good innings. Coincidentally I watched the BBC4 Shelby story the other evening. Roy featured in that too.

Very sad passing of motorsports perfect gentlemen.Fantastic to have raced one of his Astons at the Silverstone Classic a few years back,even more fantastic was to have Roy waiting in the paddock to congratulate me afterward!!
