Nice to see that Aston Martin got rid of the third front light. Looked ridiciolous, spoiled the cooling a bit as it seems. Maybe they're gonna put it back on again for the night.

To our German members, what happen to the Gr. N classes? I seem to remember GR. N still included in the 24H regulations.

Audi in previous years have had their own cameras filming in the pits and their own on boards that they insert into the sports1 feed basically. So you do get slightly different views from time to time in my experience.

IIRC it's included in the 24h regs, but not in the VLN regs, so there are going to be only very few homegrown cars for that class... it was more of a way of giving international teams an easy way into the race, but not too many have ever taken that way.

Imagine if all the top GT3 teams in the world did this race, like AF Corse, Vita4One(where are they this year?), Reiter, Hexis Racing, United Autosports, etc; like all the big teams from the Blancpain Endurance Series. This race would be even more mega.

If it wouldn't interfer with the little teams who still are the basis of this race, then yes. But I could imagine that it gets too political and too fast in terms of lapping.

By the way, a 458 GT3 is really missing...

I was always kind of puzzled on why Gr. N wasn't included in the VLN regulations. Thanks for the explanation.

Also what happened to all of the SP4T Audi's? I seem to remember a good number of them a couple of seasons ago.

With the way VLN gives more points to better subscribed classes, a number of Audi teams changed to the 2 liter engine from the 2.5, dropping down to SP3T, to have a better shot at the overall championship.

Did you guys hear what Hindy just said on Radio Le Mans?

I just turned it on and I don't know exactly what they were talking about.

But he said something (that I guessed is being used on some cars in this race) is going to be mandated on Formula 1 cars next year so that we can laugh at them even more.

There isn't... with the number of cars out there, driver-specific transponders are just not a viable solution...

Think he was talking about Schuey's laughably slow demo run in the Merc F1 car, any quicker than that and the FIA could have labelled it as on-track testing instead of a demo run.

No, it shows only the first driver, not the driver who is in the car.

He was actually referencing that fur tail that the Opel/Volker Strychek car has hanging off an antenna at the back of the car; how next year F1 was going to mandate every team have one, so he could laugh at the cars more.

Settled into a good rhythm now. Both Manthey cars just there lying in wait.

A bit of rain would spice this up even more.
