kida can start at 7 or 8 I believe , Im guessing you are from the UK so the best thing to do is find a local track and visit there during a meeting and ask some questions of people in the know.

yes dads can race on the same day as the kids , it can be a bit hetic but it can be done and everyone enjoys it.

not sure about how many races you do a year , that depends on your budget and how far you want to travel , but for sure go along to a meeting and ask some questions is the best way to start.

good luck

Your kidlet can start at age 8 here and racing in the same event should be feasible for both of you but you will need someone else around to lift the kart etc in case you get scheduled immediately after each other. My dad and brother did it for several years.

Your choices are basically between:
- Comer Cadet - more prestige, more widely supported but more expensive. They are changing engine next year to the Comer W60 from the S60, I don't know how that's going to pan out.
- WTP - newish class with sealed and more equal engines but less widely supported
- Honda Cadet - Honda 4 stroke engines, very cheap, reasonably well supported

For yourself I would look at Rotax Max or TKM, or one of the 4 stroke classes which I don't know as much about.

To choose classes I would go to a race meeting and see what looks like fun.

Circuits in the north are:
Warden Law, Sunderland
Wombwell, Sheffield
Larkhall, Glasgow
Rowrah, Cockermouth, Cumbria
Three Sisters, Wigan
Raceland, Edinburgh (4 strokes only)

Do a search for their websites to find out what classes they run and meeting dates. Most clubs run a club championship round once a month throughout the year, then when you get better there are four 6 round national championships
