They'll only just send Till, Bell, producer and camera people to the track after Daytona, regardless of what channel it is being shown, so I don't think the costs will vary much on different circuits. Of course, driving the van to Connecticut is always cheaper than say to Oregon.

Perhaps the TV guys were not looking at the class structure of the races when they were scheduling it. I dont like the format at Lime Rock one bit. LMPC can't be allowed to feature over GTLM.

Don't be so sure that the PC cars won't be upstaged by the GTLM's around LRP. Way more downforce in the GTLM cars this year should make it fun.
Anyway, the GTLM guys get to be the headliner at VIR. |

It's supposed to be, but that wasn't always the case, especially on street courses when gentleman drivers started the PC cars. A lot of times, some of the gentleman drivers weren't fast enough or aggressive enough to generate heat in the tires to give the PC cars any significant mechanical grip advantage of the GTLM cars.
The spec Continental LMPC tires vs track specific Michelin tires on the GTLM cars didn't help matters, either. |

SoD says they want to go to Le Mans next year with the new car. Also, Ryan Dalziel thinks the P2s are too fast and that they might have to wait until the P2s break to be competitive in a DP. LO freaking L. Give me a break.

Well, those manufacturer-specific body panels will be for cosmetic purposes other than gaining an edge. After all, the IMSA is like Capcom or Riot Games when it comes to balancing various characters, but sometimes their "balancing" efforts weren't so great.
Meanwhile, it's sad that the GTLM cars are nerfed as the IMSA don't want those GTs being upstaged by their precious prototypes just like Petit Le Mans 2015. |
