As a TV3 employee who works on the coverage I can confirm we didn't go to black when V8SC's satellite link died.
Our coverage differed from Australia's yesterday in that we started the race live and then went into delay when we took an ad break so as the race progressed we got further behind the live race. Sometimes Seven does this as well but yesterday they were genuinely live.
Happily we had our own satellite link from Hamilton for covering the support races so as a backup we took the feed of the Supercars races out of the V8SC truck into our truck via a cable. This meant we were able to switch from the feed that was going to Australia and the rest of the world to our own satellite feed when we caught up to the point that their satellite link failed, one advantage of being in delay
