Montreal - close enough to the US border and would serve US N-E audience very well | 8 | 17.39% | |
Road America - the only right choice but lots of 'upgrading' to do to please the FIA blue blazers | 7 | 15.22% | |
no US (or Canadian) round at all - the WEC doesn't need a race there anyway... | 6 | 13.04% | |
somewhere else in North or South America (Brazil???) | 2 | 4.35% | |

Manor have been rumoured for Ginetta since the car was announced, along with others. Ginetta gained a wealth of customers through their G57 P2 programme, the optimist in me would be surprised if they didn't sell 3-4 cars Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

We should have this conversation over in the 2018 thread or the lmp1 thread. But I will enjoy the season while it lasts. The competition up front is still close and that's a big positive.

Last minute volunteer opportunity @ CotA
For those of you in the greater Austin, TX, US area that are interested in being in much closer proximity to the cars, I received this email yesterday:
----------- This is the Workers Wanted list from MotorsportReg.com. Usually we only email you if you’re within 300 miles of the event venue that needs workers. But these are such high-profile events that you’d consider travelling for, we’re opening it up to our entire list. The World Endurance Championship starts THIS WEEK at COTA. No experience is necessary (though preferred) and it will qualify you to work the Formula 1 Grand Prix in October. The Formula 1 US Grand Prix is October 19- 22 and experience is required for all volunteer positions. Here’s more from Sydney Davis Yagel: ________________________________________ Join us for the World Endurance Championship weekend and qualify to work the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix! We are looking for Flagging and Communications volunteers for our upcoming WEC event. With the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, we are short some marshals and could use some additional help. Experience is preferred, but not necessary. However, experience is required for the Formula 1 weekend, so working this event will give you the experience you need to apply. Details and registration links for each event are below. Each weekend comes with COTA goodies, one GA ticket for a friend or family member, most meals, free camping or discounted hotel rates, and more than a few surprises! World Endurance Championship (WEC) Event Dates: September 13-16 Event Registration: http://msreg.com/LSLM17-public Wednesday is our training day and kickoff party with on-track racing action Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. We REALLY need help on Thursday! The Spirit of Le Mans takes over Austin for a thrilling weekend of speed culminating in six hours of world class endurance racing. Joining WEC on track in 2017 is World Series Formula V8 3.5, Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli, and the United States Formula 4 Championship. Formula 1 United States Grand Prix Event Dates: October 19-22 Event Registration Application*: http://msreg.com/F1USGP17-new Thursday is our training day and kickoff party with on-track racing action Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. In addition to the world-class racing of Formula 1, the United States Formula 4 Championship and another soon to be announced series will be showcasing their skills on track. *Please note that experience is required for all Formula 1 volunteer positions. If you plan to work WEC, please note that in your application. Your application will not be confirmed until your experience is confirmed. -- Sydney Davis Yagel Race/Operations, WEC & F1 at COTA ___________________________________________ Circuit of the Americas World Endurance Championship (WEC) September 13-16 http://msreg.com/LSLM17-public Formula 1 United States Grand Prix October 19-22 http://msreg.com/F1USGP17-new Thanks for helping out! Speaking of COTA, anyone going to open a new thread for this weekend's WEC race? Practice 1 is now live, but unfortunately live timing seems to be absent!

https://timing.71wytham.org.uk/s/wec isn't working either
Maybe it's some general problem with timing? |

All the usual sites for timing are not working. Maybe it is an issue at COTA, like you said Spyderman.

Porsche tweeted that after 30 minutes, #2 car is in first followed by the Toyota's, then #1 in fourth. No times reported, and the wec said this https://twitter.com/FIAWEC/status/908384195793301505

Which part of the WEC season in this current format have you enjoyed more over the years.
a) The spring races of Spa and Silverstone and the lead up to Le Mans or b) The fly away races in the fall where there is a race every 2/3 weeks. I like the fall period because you have consistent grids and start to get into a rhythm which you don't get otherwise. |

WEC Technical Director Bernard Niclot has left his post, seemingly due to a fall out with the ACO. He came up with the LMP1 EOT regs, and the crux of his departure was disagreements with the ACO over GTE BOP and the now dead 2020 LMP1 regs, per SC365.

The Ford GT guys need to step up their game. They were horrible at Mexico and COTA.

Circuit Safari is coming to the WEC round of Fuji like they do for Super GT. DSC put up a story on it couple of days ago, saying it would take place sometime before practice 3.
I think this is a great idea and it will connect with fans in Japan. They should do this at more races. I would hope and think it's a success and they will do just that! |

Stupid... name? If I attended a race, I would love to go on this 'safari' in a bus while the race cars fly past at speed, it'd be like living a video game

When I looked it up to see what it was I found a video of ss collins going around Fuji.
I've been going round Nurburgring and there was a bus there too. |
