Alan Morgan should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
It's closed wheel in 2016 Mike, as it was in 2015 - it's hard to make open wheel races pay at the Six Hours meeting. The HSCC are reviewing the format of the Brands Indy meeting as a consequence.

...speaking of open wheel, isn't it time you dusted the Delta off?

News of events across the pond.....

First, Masters are talking of 'Endurance races for Pre '66 cars' at Daytona November 10-13 2016, and Sebring December 01-04. That's all I know at the moment, but am eager to learn more.....

And talking of Sebring, the Historic Sportscar Racing organisation (HSR), usually run an historic meeting first weekend in December (just gone) so maybe that is the event where Masters are proposing to run next year.

In the meantime said HSR have just announced that in 2016 the event will become "The HSR Classic 12 hours of Sebring, Pistons and Props." As the title suggests, it will be a celebration of old cars and old planes (my words) at the historic (but still working) airfield circuit. The racing will run along the same lines as the bi-annual Le Mans Classic and Daytona '24hrs' events, with age related grids running for (I guess) an hour at a time.....

All sounds very interesting!

Thanks Alan for the clarification. Re: the Delta.... Would like to be out with it at meetings that don't clash with other obligations- Colin McKay has laid down the gauntlet.....

Masters have now published a basic list of where they're going in 2016-

May 28/29 Brands Hatch GP circuit

Mine is a white and green 535, raced at the 'ring in the early 80's. Alex Elliott is looking after it for me.
The May 28/29 meeting would suit my calendar - two weeks after Spa. I'll try and find out which categories will go there.
Many thanks

Hi Bill, l can now picture your lovely car! The Masters event at Brands will be one of their 'Festivals', so should feature 70s Celebration or whatever they decide to call it next season. That usually includes Gp2 and A cars, and I seem to remember this May (and at least one previous season) MRL combining their HTCC with it. Being a bank holiday w/end they've run it as a 3 day meeting previously, with one day on the Indy Circuit and two on GP, but dates suggest only two days next year....

Thanks Mike, sounds promising. A mate is promising to bring his ex Alan Mann Grp 2 Escort over as well. Interesting car with great Aussie history.

Mike, things have moved on a little with the acquisition of a Junior so between that and the E-type (and assuming both cars are running!) my dance card is already looking quite full

I did enjoy my outings in the Delta this year though, so you never know......

Not a race meeting as such, but worthy of inclusion on the historic calendar, the 'Coupe de Printemps a Montlhery' takes place on April 2nd 2016. (Apologies for lack of 'accents' ) Full info on the website-

20th August - Snetterton
Changes / clarification with AMOCR dates...

April 16th, at Brands (GP) as support for British GT. Only Intermarque and AM GT Cup.

May 28th they support British GT at Oulton, and according to the info received, have races for Intermarque, AM GT Cup, Innes Ireland Cup & 50s Sportscars.

The Silverstone (GP circuit, supporting Brit GT) date remains the same. (June 11th) Races as for OP.

Snetterton (300) is now on July 23rd, with Equipe GTS 'and others' joining.

Brands Hatch (Indy) date is now August 13th, Equipe GTS 'and others' again joining.

Oct 1st Silverstone (Nat), again joined by Equipe GTS plus 'others'.

Apparently all dates are Saturday's, with testing available the previous day....

Thanks for the link, Joe. Six categories, now, need to check out what they all mean!

Looks like races are incorporated mainly into BRSCC meetings, plus one at VSCC and one at BARC. Good to see them also at Donington Festival and Castle Combe events. The Britcar meeting at Silverstone should be an interesting one to race at, as well!

Hope JT gets the support his hard work deserves.

It looks like The 50'2 touring greats will mingle with TC'63, which was great while it lasted back in 2012, but with just under 20 cars on the grid wasn't sustainable as a stand alone. The 50's touring greats and FiA TC63 are very evenly matched pace wise, so should mix well . . . .many cars, like Rootes and Volvo, straddle both periods anyway, the more relaxed 50's regs help even out the FiA compliance of later cars which can be quicker.

The over spill of 50's will go to A series challenge, with Accademy, both of which will be popular I'm sure. Accademy particularly with the carrot dangling next September.

I'm guessing the 2 stand alones are just BTCC celebrations, which were well supported . . .

Good question, I seem to remember it being just testing and maybe qualifying last time I was there.

What's different this time is the fact that FJHRA (Formula Junior) are having their Jubilee celebration at the event, with three separate grids for the cars, I guess each with qualifying plus two races. So maybe Friday will feature qualifying for a lot of if not all grids. Would also be interesting to know if the GP layout is to be used for all 3 days....

Maybe someone closer to the HSCC will know the answers, if not we'll have to wait until more info comes from the club itself.

morninggents should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
About five years ago it was a three day meeting. We qualified on the Friday (around lunchtime) and had to wait until late Saturday afternoon for our race. We spent Friday afternoon trying to find an address in South London to collect some body panels I'd bought months earlier.
I remember there was a lot of waiting around that year. Maybe 2010 or 2011.

In recent years Friday testing has only been on the Indy, so no qualifying as all races are run on GP. Things could change! I suppose the limited number of days they can use the GP is a factor, aside from the cost.

Vaguely think there used to be, and maybe still is, an MSV stipulation that clubs booking GP had to also buy a day on a lesser MSV circuit at some point in the season, but may be completely wrong on that! Thought HSCC would fulfill that criteria, anyway......

Just to confirm. The Superprix will be on the GP circuit for all 3 days. It will be some time before there's any info on the timetable.
