That answer is quite easy: there was a security training for the marshals, fire-safety and the ambulance. Just a training what to do if an accident happen.

Nobody was hurt and no crash happened

Rallycross online, www.rallycross.de has an event listed as

FIA European Championship for Rallycross Drivers - Candidate Event

July 28-29 Circuit de Kerlabo - France.

Does anybody know what this is. Is it a French Championship round that will be inspected prior to the ERC going there in 2008? Or is it an event international drivers are likely to attend?

@ schanche: I wasn’t in France and so I wasn’t able to answer your question anyway – at least not before checking with JoLo, FVR or Tim W. Therefore Michael Höse’s reply was quite welcome.

@ Stephen H: If Kerlabo will be accepted for its track and its safety (by the FIA circuit inspector) and for the organisation of the 2007 July event (by the FIA [Off-Road Commission] race observer) it can apply with its ASN for the French 2008 ERC round – and will get it for 99%.

PS: The event itself counts for the 2007 FRC and it is very doubtful that there will be some ERC regulars there only because it is a 2008 ERC candidate race.

Sorry, mate! But after a total of 20 years (1978–1997), in which I’ve never missed a single ERC round, I had to cut down my yearly RX programme drastically, due to different reasons. And I was also simply tired of travelling, after doing 30–35 RX events a season for about 15 years. Nowadays I attend just a very few ERC rounds – and prefer to rule the European RX press from home…

PS: From 1974 till 1977 I've attended several ERC rounds and from 1998 till 2001 most of them, but not all (as between 1978 and 1997). And since 2002 I do only a very few each year. Apropos, don't believe the wiseguys. The "golden years" of the ERC were 1987 till 1992. How do I know? I've only missed the first year of it (1973)…

Eddi, those that were there know that as well as anyone, walking through the pits watching the cars on the rollers, hearing all teh different languages, it was incredible in those days, dont know why but there was a special atmosphere surrounding rallycross in the heyday that seems lacking now.
Its as if the drivers knew it as well!

Yep – a great flock of those nearly all equal Group B monsters with 650+bhp, no relevant noise limit and flamboyant guys in them. And at least one of these past-time heroes is really a huge loss nowadays: Mr. Charisma himself – the one and only "Mister Rallycross"…

Mr Rallycross

I been Hoping Martin makes a return for a long time! but sadly Thats all in the past nowStill miss his style of driving and blatant all out approach to everything he was spectacular!Dont really see drivers like that anymore, not sure if its because the cars handle so much better or everybody has just got more mellow .Hunsbedt returning is a big plus to the ERC this year! he has always been great to watch and the VOLVO is just the best looking car out off all of em, so wrong a car that size shifting that quick miles better than the SAAB.Just out of interest anybody else wish Per would switch back to the Subaru Impreza

Oh yes anyone got pictures of the Subaru with the Formula1 wing on the back?

Having enjoyed my trip to the French ERC, thinking of making a first trip to spectate at the Belgium round.

Does anybody know if there is camping available at the track for the erc round?

Hi Stephen

there is a camping place right beside the track - only 5min by foot:

http://maps.google.de/maps?f=q&hl=de...wloc=addr&om=1

Its not that luxury, so dont expect too much (showers, toilets are good), but Rallycross-Fans stand together normally, so there is always a great athmosphere and a lot chances to talk, discuss and learn new friends from all over europe!!!

www.kikmolen.be is the website of the camping place, roundabout 10 EURO per night/person is a good price. I enjoy it with my girlfriend every year.

Greetings
Michael

Really? An interesting revelation for a motorsport forum...

Might it be an idea to organise a trip with some people from the forum to go to a round this year? It would be a good opportunity to meet some of the members and an even better opportunity to see some top level rallycross. As Michael says, there's a good spirit between rallycross fans.

Sorry if this is just recycling an old or silly idea, it just occurs to me that no-one's mentioned it for a while.

Thanks Michael, really helpful.

Well said "Stockhatch 782", I really regret not going on the Rallycross Trust European Rallycross Trips that Arthur used to run, many a year ago.

Schanche you wrote: VOLVO is just the best looking car out off all of em, so wrong a car that size shifting that quick miles better than the SAAB.

You should compare the Volvo S40 with the Ford Focus, they comes from the same family. The SAAB 9 3 have 159 mm longer wheelbase and are slightly bigger than the Volvo. I do think Per does great with a car that is not intended to rallying with (as the Focus). And as for Per Eklund driving Subaru again. HELL NO!! Per is home!!!
