That could well have been the normal petrol as I believe they were running back to back comparisons with the LPG and petrol car.

Alfa Fan has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
The possible "surprise" I'd heard about didn't materialise today no. However there are still ten days until Thruxton

Is it at all possible to tell us what you thought this suprise could be?

Jackson is returning. I suspect you feel that the use of returning should reflect somebody having been absent, but it can just be used for continuation.

E.g. "Jason Plato returns with Silverline"

Also Alfa Fan indicated the surprise was to do with a possible driver for one of the Vectras a couple of pages back. The danger of saying you know about a possible surprise is that when anything vaguely surprising happens you can say you knew about it first. Not that I'm suggesting this is the case.

My guess, an out-of-work Motorbase driver could be looking at the second Vectra.

Glad to finally see a facelift BMW 3 series in BTCC, looks so much more up to date than the WSR cars

Turkingtons name was on the side of the WSR transporters along with Neate and Collard - could be something, could be nothing.....

Also did Matt Neal drive into the side of Plato when they were having the photo's taken with all the cars together? there's one on the BTCC website that makes it look like they're rubbish front wing to door

I think it's something, they would have removed it otherwise (but could just be hopeful that they will raise the budget)

Enjoyable day at Brands, Steve Neal isn't the only one unhappy about the turbo in the Focus - that one seemed to catch a lot of people by surprise. Have a feeling equalisation might be a major issue this season. A few too many white based liveries, although the Civics do look very good as do the Sunshine cars. The Chevys look very quick though the Civics don't look far behind. Hopefully a good works battle in the offing.

Best bit for me though was seeing the Golf out on track, ok it's not fast yet but it looks fantastic. And I don't think I've ever seen a touring car flame on the overrun like it - couple of crappy pics (only ones where I actually caught it)...

Not entirely sure it should be doing that! Looks cool though...

Of course he wants to be there, but he can't afford it. How will it be the end of his career? What a ridiculous thing to say.

About the Golf - that could be a result of the misfire.

Rather more than that. It was all lined up perfectly. It looks like they were all added and done together. Here's hoping Colin is on the grid at Thruxton.

A good day at Brands all round. Glad the Golf turned up. The guys in front of me pointed at it and said "Hey. That looks just like a Golf."

Really glad Jackson and Kane are back. Shame for Jonny Adam though.

I got zero gossip about 888 entries whilst I was there, but then again, I am just a random punter.

The sunshine cars looked really nice in their new liveries. The Dynamics cars look a lot better in the flesh than in pictures. The 2 Vectras look nothing like the Vectras though. I agree Dave's Vectra needs tweaking a little. Good to see the pink back though!

Did anyone see Dave Bartrum's other driver knocking around the paddock, waving a paint brush and accompanied by 2 lovely Leyland Paints girls. Not sure how he would fit in the car, being a tin of paint, but rumour in the paddock was that Collard was kicked out for him. Jackson only got the drive because he had more money.

I noticed the Golf doing that a lot as well. It looked good though. They managed to string together a good few laps at the end of the last session as well.

Only saw Forster's BMW in the first session, Anyone know what happened to Depper's version?

No engine according to btcc.net. It blew at Croft last week.

The Turkington name was on the WSR transporter at the Oulton Park test last week, the other two spaces were blank, just the union flag so the names were not all done at the same time.

It's the same name that's been on the transporter for the past 4 years, with a various different drivers being applied and removed above it.

Does it actually say "no flamethrowers" in the Super 2000 technical regulations?

Good point, could well be. It was sounding a hell of a lot healthier come the end of the day though, and still doing it.

I did wonder if Shaun was testing some afterburners...

Turkington should have tried a yourracingcar type thing, im pretty sure there are enough fans that want to see him there to go some of the way to helping him get on the grid

I find it odd that Team AON has gone down the LPG route when their (petrol) car towards the end of last year was a real contender for the podium and even wins.
