The team's press release was a sort of foot in both camps, on one hand saying it was a massive job, on the other saying there was a delay in getting parts...

On both counts though you would have thought a month is long enough to get the car up and running again. I'd imagine there's plenty of local examples where similarly or even more damaged cars have been turned around in a similar time frame (From memory Foggy, Edgell and (maybe) Bargs had damaged chassis after Puke last year and I can't remember there being a ? over them being at the next round.....

Just feels a bit odd is all...

but the NZV8 is built from a road car. all they needed to do was to nip over to Manukau and pinch a shiekh's taxi and rob it for components.
I remember Peter Van Brugal (spl?) had a big shunt at timaru in his Nissan, and the car was essentially a write off, but was patched up for the next round a week or 2 later.

Sometimes, when you want one of the best people to undertake some of the work you need to take a number and wait.

Likewise Paul Manualls car when it hit the tyres at the end of the back straight and it was at Teretonga the following week.

Suggest you go take a look around the same group of people in Timaru that fixed those cars Smoking Joe and see what you can find out and report back.

Was working for me... Even installed the app on my phone.

The fact that you can make either of those statements is a round of applause for V8ST moment... It certainly makes it much easier to engage with the racing when you can actually follow what's happening.

I looked at the phone app but you had to pay $8 or $9 and I didn't see the point when free on the lap top.

Still not working now any one got some times

Just got back from P1 at HD, and can confirm that yes only 17 cars are there, plus i think it was Tim Edgell driving the prototype - looking fast too.

Thats a blinder of a lap by Andre!

Booths new livery looks the ducks-nuts too, and so does Fogg and Gaunts car in the flesh.

The teams all seem to be gelling together a bit more now with JMR of course the best presented team, as always.

Beautiful day with air temps around 16 DegC which would explain the fast lap times.

Will be interesting come qually 2moro....could we see a sub 1.04??

I thought the prototype had some differences to the actual finished race cars that made it in-eligable for the series?

I don't think the prototype is involved with any racing as such, its just there for potential drivers to have a fang in, plus a few laps for the winners of the challenge cup races. I'm only guessing it was Edgell too as i saw a 'Chesters' sticker on his helmet. So i'd say your right in that it will be ineligable for racing.

It was edgell in the car but didn't get to see any times I wonder if Randell was having a look at the ST engine I'm sure he is qualified to help solve the engine problem, or at least confirm some of the thoughts. Would be interested to see the lap times he seemed to be doing long runs and I think he was trying to follow a few cars maybe to try and simulate race situation. Hope the weather holds to Sunday as I can't make it tomorrow.

I must say, going back to the same track brings an interesting dynamic to things... The difference in the order of things shows how fluid and competitive things are.
It'll be really interesting in the next few seasons to see if it remains that fluid or if someone becomes a 'Hamption Downs' master....

on_to_it has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Well the Sprint series is all over now and I see the media have got it wrong again. Who does the maths for these things or does the first mistake just get taken as gospel and never checked?

The difference was not .2 seconds, it was .029 which is like chalk and cheese. You're a lucky man Mr Mac!

But you were in the right place when it counted so good on you. Commiserations to Jonny Reid and his team on an unfortunate gearbox failure, and congratulations to Scotty M and his team for a great result.

Which gearbox failure? They ended up using the prototype one, was not a isolated failure amongst the teams.
