Marcus666 has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Lets turn up those beauties!

To begin this thread, I'm just gonna clearify that I haven't heard the 2.2L V6 Turbos in real life, but from amateur videos and from the tv, they sound utterly booring. Watching 1997-2002 CART races and also 2003-2007 Champ Car races I just get stunned by those turbocharged 15000 rpm 2.65L Turbo V8s.

Now, my questions is: Is it possible to get higher rpm with the current engines (2.2L). Is it atleast possible to achive a more "open wheel" sound through having a 6 into 1 exhaust (my personal favs)? Am I the only one who thinks the engines sound booring? Would a higher pitched engine sound get more fans to the sport?

I would prefer the 2.65L turbo sound any day over the current formula!

LOL, apparently you just have to speed your video up to get the Champ Cars back:

Just to keep you company....

While i do prefer the scream of the CART, the current engine is not unpleasant. It's certainly doesn't blow you away and i was quite happy not to wear ear plugs at Carb Day at Indy this year.

Also, that speeded up video is of the last gen Honda V8.

Yes I know the video is speed up. Buts its interesting that you can speed up a video just a little bit to get the 2.65L sound.

That Honda V8 sounded awful. It just droned and there was a whole field of them. The new engines are a welcome relief but nothing like the 2.65s of the CART era.

The current motors sound a bit like the old turbo F1 motors.
