one of the worst race tracks ever conceived , races will be boring as F1 as you can't really pass

Chevy 1-2-3 in race 1, Muller then followed by any of the other 4. Oriola was quick there last year I seem to remember!

Hmm, it is a sort of Monza between concrete walls. I enjoy the cars jumping over the curbs, and I'm not afraid overtaking will be impossible. The straights are long enough for a decent slipstream.
So, for once a year, I like it. If they would race everytime on a track like this, it would get very expensive though...

I am afraid that the Chevy's will have a fieldday again though. They have an advantage in a straight line, and like Monza, that count's in Marrakech.

Overtaking on Marrakech isn't impossible but I'm also afraid that Chevy's may dominate the weekend.

Overtaking is perfectly possible, we saw three Chevrolets move from 8th, 9th, 10th to first, second and third last year.

Difference is now Muller is the guy who can, and the others will hope to do as well.

track would be better if they got rid of the t12-14 chicane, that would improve the overtaking at the hairpin.

Kozlovskiy will certainly have one hell of an introduction to the WTCC around the unusual Marrakech street circuit.

It's not been confirmed that he's doing any more events, so it could just be LADA decided to suspend Dudukalo for an event.

The degree of harshness may depend on whether or not he actually had a very serious testing shunt before the season as well. Think it was reported that he had?

Afanasiev has Lukoil backing for FIA GT, guess they weren't interested in moving him? I can't remember whether or not Aleshin is backed by them still. If he is, then this seems a much wiser move than returning to FR3.5 with Tech 1. Don't see what good that is doing his career!

He had some good races last year.

But with so much backing from Lukoil I don't understand why they don't put a decent Russian driver in the car.

Lada have now confirmed Mikhail Kozlovskiy as their new driver. The PR refers to "starting from Marrakesh round" so looks like it's more than just a one-off substitute. Unless of course he crashes as well!

Somebody from F1 world said that one of the greatest racing drivers could live in Siberia but he had never drive a racing car.

Rusinov would likely be a no-go because he's backed by Gazprom Neft (through G-Drive) and that would apparently conflict with running a Lukoil car. I know the oil business in Russia is complex but I think Lukoil is public rather than state-owned?

The late date really does create problems. Again, I think it would be sensible to pull Aleshin out of his 3.5 redux but I get that there may be contracts in the way. Petrov would be an interesting choice! Afanasiev certainly was driving with a "robust" style appropriate for touring cars in Nogaro last weekend if he could be secured.

If you search on youtube for dashcam movies from Russia, you'll doubt that there are a lot of good Russian drivers.

If it's a joke, than it's a stupid one. I didn't know that youtube has something in common with real life.

Yes, i know that videos, and i am always guessing, if so many drivers can fail that much. So Dudukalos fault was not a big one...
(just joking).

It depends on what audience might Lukoil attract - buyers from Russia or buyers from rest of Europe/World? If its Europe/World, than they don't need to take a russian driver.

Well, that is down tro the unique car insurance situation in Russia. More drivers fit them to their cars, so more crashes are caught.

I'm sure there are many crashes in the Netherlands and Germany which aren't filmed because people don't feel that they have to fit dash cams as often to prove to their insurer they weren't at fault in an accident!
