Boullier is a guy who can nurture a decent team but he's not the guy to lift a dire team from the doldrums. Whitmarsh is a sturdier type but he's not particularly imaginative. I'm amused by him claiming there's too much politics whilst playing politics. The Dennis split was acrimonious, there'd have to be alot of healing and humble pie for him to come back. It's a specialist art to resurrect a GP team, I dunno if there's a clear answer to Mclaren's problems here.

The question is, who is best to lead McLaren out of the doldrums?

If Zak brown has any sense he needs to realize that Boulier is blagging it, and he is well out of his depth, it looks like he took too much credit for the gory days of Raikkonen winningin the Lotus days, just fire Boullier then replace him with Pat Symonds in order that Patcan sort next yearscar……..Pat must be wetting his pants laughing at the state of Williams, since Pat was shown the door Williams have done nothing but decline...….and Paddy was clearly not the brains at Mercedes.

I think Pat’s career is behind him and the only thing McLaren can compete in is Formula Rubbish.
Martin could at least get things back on an even keel and then maybe they could find someone who could sign at least one sponsor. Last edited by ScotsBrutesFan; 22 Jun 2018 at 20:27. Reason: PM sent to Poster. |

I disagree, Williams was nowhere before Pat came along, then after he was replaced by Paddy, they have done nothing but slide, also assisted by their 2nd rate pay drivers, so all their own stupid fault really, I rate Pat Symonds highly and credit him with putting Williams back on the podium...….he could do the same at McLaren for sure, and I'm sure his old pal Fernando would welcome him with open arms.
As for whitmarsh, I just have him down as a professional smiler and grinner.....I don't think he did anything of note for McLaren other than just manage. |

After moving the short distance from one part of France to another, there must be some significant contrasts in Fernando's mind right now.....

Gone maybe, but I doubt it’s be before year end. He loves driving and that would probably be it for him in F1, so he’d want to get as many goes as possible.
It was dark, wet and borderline pointless, but on Thursday night at Le Mans as midnight approached he was one of four (out of 180) drivers pounding round in the last practice. That made me like him as much as his stint early Sunday morning. He’s up for driving fast cars. |

Indeed so - I was standing at Mulsanne Corner with my two sons in the drizzle, delighted that he was out there getting some experience in the wet, just in case. I find that I've really warmed to the guy over the last couple of years.

At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if he does IndyCar next year.
