RWC should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I hope we don't see the sponser sparse teams breaking lap records pre season!

It happens every year doesn't it?Even the honourable alain prost indulged in this shamefull trick.Of course arrows did it every year didn't they...?I hope jorden don't think any sponser will fall for such a thing.f1 has enough image probs as it is...

Have Jordan posted any quick times? I think your jumping the gun RWC.

I agree though, it si a shameful trick, but not because of the sponsors. If they are silly enough to fall for it good for them.

It sucks because it gives us the fans hope. When you see a midfield team go quick you hope and pray it's real, only to be disappointed later.

I fail to see the problem with this "farce." If Jordan stays in F1 as a result I would encourage them to do it.

From a fan "farce" perspective, don't put your hopes in pre-season testing. Everyone knows it's not a good indicator.

There are worse things in the world. The only mildly irritating thing is that it might affect who I pick for my Fantasy F1 team.

Er, no it is not fraud at all. Perhaps Minardi should try it, they might get some backing. And you certainly couldn't see anyone being upset about it come Melbourne as everyone expects them to retain their usual spot at the back of the grid anyway.

It's not fraud. After all they CAN do that sort of time. Just because the other teams are running different strategies it makes them look good.

McLaren have been setting record times in pre-season testing - what does that do for your theory?

You are also forgetting that the practice may give their sponsors extra advertising in the national and international press. That in itself makes it worthwhile!

Surely it's no different from Minardi being the first car on the track for qualifying so they grab the TV coverage for their sponsors?

It's true Stephen.

Yoong actually held provisional pole postion in more races than Montoya last year. Not bad for someone that never qualified off the back row.

Under the weight of rules which apply to Formula One races, not what are effectively track days when teams can do whatever they like with the cars.

Misleading, perhaps, but calling it fraud is laughable.

Post the legal jargon/precedent/FIA rules that says it is fraud and we'll eat our hats, I'm sure.

There are no scrutineers at these testing days except to make sure the cars are safe, so the teams can run the cars in whatever configuration they please, whether it's productive to the development of their car or not.

No offense, but I can't comprehend why it's fraud. There are no rule in place that state you can't do that. It seems in testing they rarely work on putting in a truely hot qualifying lap. If anyone thinks Mindari is faster than ferrari because they did a qualifying lap and ferrari was seeing how long wet tires last in the dry on a full fuel load, that's their problem. Again, who's this hurting? Sponsors who put money on the lesser teams. I'm more than happy to have them "defrauded" of sponsorship.

And yes, Snrub is from the monorail episode, season 2 I believe.

Misleading as to race pace, Yes. But as they said, not fraud.

To me it's a silly waste of time. Any time spent underweight is time spent not near race conditions working out what a chassis needs from the tyre supplier and the suspension setups in certain corners.

I DO believe McLaren have done this this season. There were a few rumours ringing around last season from West that they might leave, and even that Mercedes were unhappy with the poor performance of the Illmorr engines.

I think to give them a pre season boost they ran their car underweight at Barcelona.
