The best thing would be to have Historic Open Wheelers....I would think I had died and gone to heaven

I think maybe run Regularity on the Friday between practices, and also Saturday morning. Then leave the rest of the weekend for the racing. To be honest I'd enter Reg next year just to lap the Mountain, who cares how far away from my nominated time I was!
Problem is...you could have a 20 lapper, stopped in the first two laps

Short races at least have a chance of a restart...unless we can get some sort of guaranty that the drivers would behave themselves and try to keep out of trouble.

Note to Drivers: you don't have to overfill your tanks for a three lapper..."car number XXX leaking fluid"...dangerous and unnecessary

That was an awesome weekend! I can't wait until next year! I hope they extend the festival to a few more days in the next couple of years, coz I think they'll need to. Not many criticisms from me - my mates and I had a ball. There were more people there than I expected, but less than the 12-Hour. The categories were all fantastic, nice clean racing, the sounds of some of those machines - I hope that they will all be invited back next year. Personally, my favourite was Improved Production. Those Rx-3's are nice cars. The only problem for me was that I couldn't follow the regularity - it was impossible to tell who was where. There were some beautiful cars there though. A big thank-you to the FoSC organisers for bringing this event to Bathurst. And like I said, I can't wait until next year.

Regularity is racing the clock, not each other. You nominate a time, and points are awarded according to how much faster or slower you are compared to your time. The less points the better. That's why it was hard for you to "follow" - because there was no leader etc.

Slower cars mixed with faster ones provides some great variety, but also some skill from both drivers to maintain their laptime without getting held up, or losing time giving way.

Awesome weekend

Well that would have to be one of the better classic meetings that I have been too. I was based at 1.3 - mountain straight, and loved to see all the different makes of cars coming out of the pits....... So if there any officals that want to know about this meeting just ask because its the way bathurst used to be and its fantastic the way the FOSC looked after you so well.

Just keepin the thread alive

This event in particular was one of the reasons I decided to get an MX5 and get into Production Sports Car Racing (apart from the great competition already here in QLD).

I'm still in the process of bulding my car but at least it's on the track and I'm racing again. Can't wait until next year when I live out my dream of racing at the mountain.

Paul.

Howdy guys,

My first post, after recently finding this forum.

I ran my Torana at this event, and I have to say it was an awesome experience! Unfortunately I busted an axle on the startline for race 2, which was a bit of a let down. Even so it was still worth the trip from Adelaide for the time I had out there....

cheers,

Sam

Cheers mate, yeah the first thing I did was look in the revision mirror! Not a nice feeling. Up till that point the car went well, although I was taking in pretty easy. I think I improved by lap time by 5 secs on the last lap of race one alone..haha

Didnt have the best preparation for this event, came back from our honeymoon the day before we left for Bathurst...If I'm lucky enough to get another run next year, I'll make sure the thing is better sorted.

Were you in a car or flagging?

I see that they have already put up the dates for next year on the FoSC website.

Would love to go, but the funds are a bit low, plus I've got a bit of work to do on the ol' girl before I hit the track again...

275 - A big thankyou to yourself and all the other guys that gave up their time to come out - without you fella's none of us would be going racing!

Ditto. I've been on the other side of the fence as an official and I understand the dedication it takes to do some of these events. Thankyou.

Paul.

I fully intended running at the FoSC OP meeting in June, I've got my leave approved and booked my accomodation, but now the car is too short and we won't have enough time to get it lengthened.

Easter Bathurst 2008

Disturbing news today.....

Quote...
re my CAMS official's licence upgrades, apparently CAMS is really ****ed of because someone signed off on so many licence assessments at FOSC Bathurst, after he was told not to do ANY assessments. Accordingly, CAMS has canned every single assessment done at Bathurst.

So it's CAMS' fault someone did what they were told NOT to do? Hmmmm.....
Surely the person who did the signing off is to blame?
