F3000 Spa race

The f3000 race at Spa has been moved to 23/24 Aug. It will be a stand alone race with no support races. 8 cars? Hmmmm. I must look in my Thesaurus for another word for Boredom.!

Where did this info come from Windup? Maybe it refers to the Euro F3000 series?

Rob29: since the FIA SCC promotor also took over the Euro3000 events i suspect those 2 together at Spa.

And 23/24 August = Hungarian GP with F3000, so no FIA F3000 either.

No, Unfortunately, It is FIA 3000. The 3000 teams had a pop at Bernie for not sticking with the agreed number of Gp races, So Bernie gave them there own. This was on the same weekend as F3 at Spa, so F3 has to move to Aug 23/24. My mistake , F3000 is Sept 21. Got my knickers twisted.!

How does one plan one's summer with all this swapping of dates going on? Latest calendar I saw had F3 on Sep 21. F3000 Euro or Intl have not yet been amended. With F1 now threatening to go into total meltdown, maybe the F3000s will get to be the main event?

F3 on Sept 21st is now more likely than the August date but is still "subject to ratification". The Sept date is the last chance if the August date cannot happen.

Yes, I hope they make up their minds soon! ;-)

You know

If we took the F1 teams, had them keep their engines but swapped the cars and equipment with F3000 we'd have a nifty little series.

Hi Danflag, A friend works in an open plan office and has good hearing. Horses mouth, is the phrase I think..! But as there is still significant "in fighting" anything could happen..!

The Belgian F3000 race will take place at Spa in the last weekend of august. An official FIA-statement about this race may follow soon, perhaps even tommorow...since I guess you ppl would still not believe it :-)

That kinda solves my problem for September 21

DTM @ Zandvoort and F3000 @ Spa...hard to choose.

FIA SCC and F3000 @ Spa on August 31...easy to choose.

Lets hope this means that British F3 will be there the same weekend. I believe the original plan was for the British GT's to race in the 1000Km's with the FIA sports cars.

The concept doesn't change, only the 1000km-trainings may have to be moved or shortened a bit to make room for the F3000-race on saturday.

Keeping the F3000 on Spa at the same date should make a return of F1 in 2004 easier, if there would be any chance at all...
