Bathurst...Easter Festival

Here is the latest press release from Bathurst Regional Council for any one that's interested...........

Bathurst International Motor Festival

Following the success of the inaugural WPS Bathurst International Motor Festival last Easter event organisers announced that the 2007 Festival will incorporate a 12-hour production car race at the world famous circuit, Mount Panorama.

The 2007 event will be held over Easter, April 6-8 2007, with a strong focus remaining on the history of the traditional Easter meeting and incorporating demonstrations from cars of all eras.
Since the running of last year’s inaugural event there has been a universal call from all parts of the motorsport fraternity for production car racing to return to the famous Mount Panorama circuit and the Easter Festival is the perfect fit to incorporate such an event.
The event will also include support categories; Aussie Racing Cars, GT Championship, Historic Touring Cars & a new addition, Commodore Cup. Along with expert demonstrations from Motor Sport legends and increased high octane entertainment on Pit Straight.

The 2007 WPS BIMF will also focus on car and motorcycle clubs coming along to display and parade their vehicles over the weekend.

The event promises to be bigger and better in 2007 for everyone so come along and experience what the mountain has to offer at Easter.

Good to see the Commodore Cup announcement. Excellent to see the organisers have solved the problem of last years event, lack of on track action. Such diversity through the categories aswell old, new, classic, prestige, mass production.

Any mention of the ChampCar returning.

Yeah I guess thats the double edged sword with holding an event over the Easter break. Awesome in that its the long weekend and time off work, but negative in that people look to spend time with the family.

Sunday for me atleast is highly unlikely for that reason, but Saturday looks like its got me.

Also just noted, ChampCar will be running. Only on the Saturday it seems though.

A pity the bikers are only wanted club wise (ie..attendance), and not in the competing capacity.

Looks like a good weekend, hopefully the 12 hour will be a success.
