My track, as Lee said. Simple is oftern better. And i think this is both an acceptable, and probably a useful addition to the track in terms of passing opportunities.

Cripes Pirenzo! I never would have guessed that wasn't part of the original circuit! Brilliant job!

Didn't take much. I used a clone tool to do the first bit, where my addition leaves the current circuit, then just an ordinary line thing to do the rest, widening it where the track was heading directly away from the view point, then added barriers, and finally, zoomed right in, and added white lines and red and white curbs to my new corner, to make it look vaguely real.

Well, that picture isn't very good news for me. There's water behind the carousel and I planned on moving that corner further west...

My version. Features an interesting and incredibly big oval corner as the last corner.

Great to see Lakeside! It's my local track, just 5mins from my house - I made the online petition and posted that aerial picture. It's interesting to see everyone's changes.
The photo doesn't show the elevation of the terrain very well, it's actually quite steep in places, and many of the designs posted about would need major earthworks. Jordi, interesting idea for the oval bit, but there are two flaws. Firstly the council I believe doesn't own all of that land, and secondly, that last downhill corner is quite steep, and would need massive changes to capacitate it's inclusion. Unfortunantly, Lakeside doesn't really lend itself to a remake, it's pretty much nestled into a small parcel of usable land. Before it was closed the track did not hold licensing for winged-open wheelers. It's Australia's fastest track, and IMO the best after Bathurst: it's on par with Philip Island as far as the challenge it presents. I don't think it needs any changing, bar widening the track from 9m to 12m and improving the facilities, Hopefully we see racing there again one day. See www.lakesideraceway.com or savelakeside.org for more. |

Well done guys, Lakeside was (and is) a fantastic track. Quite frankly updating Lakeside with any of these designs would have been 10 times better than spending all that money on the layout at Queensland Raceway...*Sigh*
By the way, did i hear correctly that Lakeside was going to be reopened??? |

There is murmour that Lakeside will reopen for club racing in 2004, but the council is reluctant, despite a local phone poll returning 333 Yes calls and 12 for No
Quite frankly, there is no need for any updates to the track at all, other than as I said, resurfacing, new facilities and some improved safety as some points. And a new access road, as there is only one at the moment. IMO the council doesn't know how lucky it is. How many racing tracks have a train station accross the road? |

i guess so. In that case, i'm not keen on turns 6-8.
6/7 are needless, 8 is too slow, you need a more open corner, especially if you're intending people to pass at T9.. |
