Just got news that the International Race Track in Bunbury has been approved.
Any one up for watching Formula Nippon and the JGTC live in person? Go to www.pimm.org to see there press release. New Era is born |

I think that may be replacing Wanneroo, as i hear that is not far from getting demolished and sold off for residential purposes. Or so i hear.

Big money has been spent on Wanneroo recently, new pit area and of course the track resurfacing. Its true development is moving up towards the circuit, but the Flynn Drive Industrial area seperates it from residential development, a pine plantation is on the other side and sand/limestones quarries on another.
I'm not sure a Bunbury track could attract the V8's, its around a 2.5 hour drive from Perth and probably wouldn't attract anything but harder core fans from the big smoke. |

I dont think the V8's will ever race at Bunbury, I believe the guys involved with this PIMM & Bunbury deal dont get along with AVESCO and avidly place some hatrid towards one Mr Cochrane.

the wa sporting car club (operators of wanneroo raceway) recently signed a 25 year lease on the circuit. I'd have to say that racing at wanneroo will be here for some time in the future.

I think every major city should have at least 2 race tracks.

I don't think every major city can support two racetracks.

Depends what you call a major city, IMO any city with 1 million people in and around is major.

And by "city", not street circuits but purpose-built permanent circuits that serve some purpose for the other 362 days of the year so teams can go testing and state level racing can continue.

Mattracer i agree. However that requires certain track owners to outlay some cash on those track so that they are maintained and updated to attract meetings other than off-street drags. Wouldn't it be wonderful if state meetings or even Konica's could be held held at Adelaide's second track AIR? Don't get me wrong, i'm a fan of Mallala (and Victoria Park.) However two decent, permanent tracks would be handy for the continued development of SA motorsport. Are you listening Uncle Bob?!?!
Back to the Bunbury track, does anyone else think that there are shades of the Queensland Raceway paperclip in the track design? |
