Abandon Circuit Photo's

Hi All,

The wife and I are searching for photo's of abandon circuits, with the photo we like to be printed up in large format to take up a white wall in house that's 3m(L)x2.4m(H).

So for example, if you jump on the old Google and punch in North Wilkesboro speedway or even Monza, you'll get a stack of images of weed riddled track, pit lane, half collapsed buildings, and in the case of Monza, the old banked turned out the back there.

None of these float the boat, so if anyone out there has any photo's or can direct us in a direct to find someone it would be appreciated. Obviously we'll take care of the person at the other end once we settle on an image.

If you can help......

When you say 'photograph' do we take it you want a picture of the circuit, what exactly do you mean?

Any racing picture, shot of a corner, or particular section, or an aerial view showing the whole thing?

Might help to know your precise requirements.

Anyway good luck with the search, if I have any ideas I will let you know.

Cheers,

Bauble.

Here's a swedish guy who travels the world and take photos of abandoned places. http://jornmark.se/
There are a few galleries of racing circuits. including:

The tracks Ronnie Peterson grew up on (karting and racing)

Monza:

Reims:

Avus:

There's also some from Spain and Latvia that are pretty cool. And if you're into abandoned places in general it's very easy to get stuck..

Denosaur,
The Reims-Gueux circuit in France is remarkable for having the old pits, control tower and grandstand still intact (the grandstand only just) when the last race there was in 1972. It was the venue for several French Grand Prix, including Fangio's first European race and his last, as well as many other legends from Ascari to Von Trips, via Hawthorne, Surtees (who will hold the lap record for ever) and anyone else you can mention from that era. To stand in the pits, which are in the old 'opera box' style, as something old and powerful goes past is a true petrol head experience!
You still can drive the circuit, which was originally on closed public roads.
Here's my lap: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kc3Iu4yHb_w

The buildings have been restored by Les Amis du Circuit de Gueux, whose site includes many pics, and deserve a contribution for their work if you want to use one! http://www.amis-du-circuit-de-gueux.fr/-Accueil-

Basically after an image of a circuit somewhere in the world that now stands in decay/abandonment. In terms of angles or locations on the circuit, probably a pit straight with the old tower or pit buildings.

Not really after images like you'll find of the old banking at Monza if you do a Google image search. Those angles, not the mention the look of the guard rail, doesn't really float the boat.

It's a given that whenever we find an image we're happy with, we'll look after the other party for there work... We've started many friendships with motorsport photographers/photographers in general, over the years from our flag marshaling and know the efforts these people go to.
