I understand that a number of companies run by Tony Gilham were wound up in the high court recently, the action presumably been brought by creditors who wanted to recover the money owed.
Also the 'Team Hard' cars were not at the last round of the VW cup.

Sadly it suggests major financial issues for Tony.

simply put he expanded too much too quickly

even big private teams like WSR and Motorbase don't go beyond 3 cars

Or is it a case of NGTC being too expensive to start from scratch for the smaller teams. As we saw with Thorney.

well the likes of Dan Welch and Rob Austin don't have that big budget either yet they stuck to 1, max 2 cars and didn't overexpand

Eurotech have done the best being a Team Dynamics client and now almost beating them

Yes but Welch and RAR struggle on the budget they have. That's why they drive their own trucks, have to appeal for fans to buy t shirts to fix the cars etc.

It works though doesn't it. The fans love it, and it saves cash which can go into the racing. Makes perfect sense.

Rather see the drivers being part of the team in more than one way, than the drivers sticking their nose up at the dirty work and going practically from race car to home in one swift primadona move.

A true rumour I found!

That looks amazing, even if it is a bit of fun!

NGTC can work for anyone so long as they know the real budgets, not some marketing hype about what the budget should be.

Its costs £250-300k to build first car, £200k to build car no2.

It costs £200k -£250k minimum to run a car for a full season assuming no big damage bills.

You will need approx £100k of kit to run the cars/team (truck, fueling, toys etc)

Work to that and anyone can run in BTCC, have any less than that then give up now, save yourself the heartache.

As long as they can get away with a NASCAR style 7/8 (or smaller) model it'll probably be OK!
Mind you it would have been better suited to the Andy Rouse proposed V8 Touring Car series...

but we can assume most teams already have the kit (transporter etc) from other racing activities

and would love to know how much did Adam Morgan spent on the used ex Wrathall Avensis cos he is best Toyota driver this year

if you say 250 K minimum to run the car doesn't it mean that the likes of HARD asks 250 / 10 = 25 K per weekend to their legions of pay drivers ?

Actually Jaguar is expected to reveil a 3-series competitor next year. While I don't see an XF running in the BTCC that one might make more sense.

So roughly around £600K-£700K per car.

... or circa £2.5M for four cars in the case of Team Hard. Which begs the same old question we've been asking time and again... how did Tony Gilham - a man who not that long ago had an auction on eBay trying to find the funding for a single meeting on a rented S2000 BMW - manage to fund this.

Pay drivers and about 300 sponsor logos on every car.

Am I right saying that HARD (financial) problems started when James Cole suddenly departed ?

and you know if sponsors knock on the doors of Rob Austin ? he has now lots of public appeal and fan base and a very good image surely something perfect made for them to be associated with ?
