Contender: Hard to go past McIntyre. Done the most running in his car, reigning NZV8 Champ.

Pretender: TBA Supercheap Car #2

Bolter: Heimgartner. Think he'll surprise a few at Round One.

You would think Steven Richards will be competitive, whether he can beat his teammate might be fun to see...

Speaking of TV coverage. I heard yesterday that Tracey "Rug Doctor" Donaldson will be a presenter. I think she and her Rock FM cohorts did some work with the NZV8's coverage a couple of years ago. I don't remember it being a huge success, but I won't prejudge her.

P1 and P2 were great today. Thunder and lightning all around...it was very fitting i must say.

Good turnout too which is a bonus and they're talking up to 30,000 fans for sunday!!

My pick is #47 to take the championship
Surprise will be Andre Heimgartner and Geoff Emery (both quite impressive to watch) Also McLoughlin - he had the fastest time i think after P1

Interesting to see a good couple of seconds separates the good from the not so good

For the enduros my pick will still be JMR but i think that the McLoughlin/Jilesen pairing could be one to watch. Daniel is very good around HD

She's a good broadcaster (and a genuine petrol head), I'd pick this time around to be a step up from the last outting.

Looking at the time sheets, I'd say it's only Emery and Corkery who're in need of some improvement, Tail-end-charlies all day long and a gap bit of a gap to everyone else.... but tomorrow is a new day.

The field look pretty close though, be interesting to see what the racing is like (usually classes this close require the elbows out to get passing done... which could get exciting!)

Now Ive read some ridiculous statements with regards to V8ST & NZV8 etc etc, but this one takes the cake. Hampton only has consent/capability currently for 15,000 tops.

I'll be one of the (hopefully) 15,000 there come Sunday. Should be good

It is interesting, and this is no disrespect to Geoff Emery, but even he would admit he isn't in the same league as McConky.

I thought the RC allowed for 22,000 but i stand corrected.

SuperTourers pleased with early crowds

The circuit holds 25,000 spectators, and category CEO Paul Radisich says that there’s every chance that they could go close to that mark for tomorrow’s two races.
