I am thinking of having a play out in FR this weekend. Can anyone let me know how long the testing sessions are on Wednesday? I know I might well start on the back row but it would be a good experiance all the same.

The pre-race test days before a meeting is usually spilit FRenault AM, FBMW PM, so you should get around 4 hours running time.
Cheers |

Redracer - sorry to hear you missed out. Virtually new engine in the car, nicely loosened up by Jamie!! You'd have enjoyed it. Hope you get out later in the year. By the way, who is Ali Goss?

Ali Goss is a current/former (not quite sure) Formula Jedi front runner.
Zurich, couldn't agree more! |

Never mind it would have been fun didn't expect to be any higher than the back few rows but at least I could have at least said I had had a pop with the career boys. |

Didn't manage to get down there today cos I had to entertain a class of 30 little scallies instead!
From reading the times Yelmer Buurman came out on top by nearly half a second from Stephen Simpson (2nd) and then Oliver Jarvis (3rd). Conditions were changeable though so it looks as though it was one of those random, lottery type sessions so don't read too much into it. |

I thought it must have been wet, as Buurman's time was a second or so up on the quickest time recorded in the March testing when it was dry.

Formula Renault
Only dried out for the last 6 to 8 laps from the looks of the times on MST Individual lap history.

It was wet but drying at the end. Not everyone went out at the end so the final results are too significant.

Formula Renault
Ali did a lot of laps in the wet getting used to the car. Much stiffer than the Jedi and the Renault gearbox was a lot different than the Yamaha R1 bike sequential box. Stayed on wets for the whole session to get more practice with heal and toeing! Was a pretty s****y day to learn a new car
There is not a great difference in ultimate pace - with Ali (and others) running low 1.22's last August on Oulton in the Jedi's |

Oulton Park
Why did it take 5 laps to bring in Oliver Jarvis, who was driving without a nose box from lap 1? and why then, following a black flag was he allowed back out to gain two points for the fastest lap?

Was he actually black flagged, or did he just get a mechanical problem flag? If the latter you can go out again if the scrutineers deem it safe to do so. I didn't see the incident so I can't comment, but I wouldn't automatically assume that no nose box would require a pit visit.

My understanding is that the nose box is a safety requirement.
