[WTCC] Race 7 & 8 - Pau (FRA), 1 June 2008

Time for the crazy street course!
  • Tielemans is unwell and will be replaced by Laurent Cazenave.
  • As a further performance equalization measure, all SEAT TDI drivers will now need to race blindfolded.
Don't forget to enter our predictions competition!

P.S. One of the above facts isn't true

E46 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
www.sportmotores.es is reporting, according SEAT Sport, that BMWs and Chevrolets are carrying less ballast at Pau. It seems a last moment FIA Touring Car Bureau resolution to equalize cars perfomance. It says too that SEAT Sport could rethink its future in WTCC.

Great work from FIA, the question is: when will they kill the championship?

Jeez, way to go FIA. The Accord drove one whopping race, thats more than enough material to judge on. This is starting to get beyond silly (and thats coming from somebody who's in favor of equalisation!).

I don't think this weight reduction will be a key factor during the race if the bimmer and Accord are behind the TDI... this track is tight!

Ok, I'm not a fan of the diesels and I cheer for BMW. BUT, this is getting ridiculous... FIA is gonna kill this championship if it continues (which it will). There must be too much money involved paying the bureau...

How can they do such decisions so rapidly? I can't understand it. Especially when the crazy weith penalties are doing its job...

Did anyone else see the back of Monteiro's car in the Formula Master broadcast? "Caution Heavy Car" - don't think Seat are very happy about the weight changes!

Yeah, can't see Seat losing those positions in the race eithier. Looks like Seat might be dominating this year...

Farfus I'm sure I saw held some cars up on his slow down lap, and those cars were yellow, blue, green, red, white ones...so I'd expect at least a grumble.

Also, maybe he'll fail the weight check seeing as he'd lost his wing-mirror

It was a good lap though.

Hah! Even with all that weight the SEATs are still almost fastest. They really do have it made...

If Farfus miss his start tommorow, it'll be difficult for a no-Seat car to win...

Alex K has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
I watched the precidings in Pau today. IMO it'd usefull to consider changing qualifing rules for WTCC, apply Formula Master rules for Pau, or some kind of a SUper Pole rules. It's so easy slow down 5 or 6 cars at Pau in the dying minutes...

BTW I never heard of Cazenave.
The name rang a bell as a GT racer- been around the French GT series recently in the SRT Corvette amongst other drives, sharing with ex-ETCC/WTCC Alfa driver Eric Cayrolle, but I don't know much about him otherwise.

A quick Google reveals he's a local, from Pau, with a background in Formula Ford, Super Production and French GT

Considering the BMW's now in the featherweight class, it's not entirely surprising though.

Farfus tops the warm up - as the first TDI is 11th, the rest 18th-21st

Thommo 2nd, and Nogues faster than Coronel in the TFSI SEAT. Very impressive. Gené watch out.

Hmmm, so Menu & Zanardi have got into each other again!

Forcing a restart of race 1 with a red flag.
