Need Help Homologation
I am looking for help with homologation specialists. I look in the homologation sheets 650 (RS1800 Grp4)and 1605(RS1600 Grp2) the "Monte Carlo" brake. I can find 265x20mm discs and 280x25mm discs, but not the 260x25.

I am guessing that a 260x25 mm disc is so that it can run on 13 inch wheels using the "Monte" brakes . This is not on the Homologation papers because it was not used at that time . But without spending hours reading up Appendix J of the correct period , I believe it was allowed to machine & remove materials from parts , but not to add to them . So machining a 280x25mm disc down to 260x25mm ,[ or just using one of that size ] , would be normally allowed & complies with Historic rules . |

The disc thickness isn’t mentioned on the extension referring to the large diameter discs, which as stated above, were able to be used with 15” wheels from July 1974. As I have 304mm diameter on my car I know they are 25mm.....
I’d just be a little concerned that if 260 x 25mm wasn’t used in period, it would prohibit it’s use now- BUT as the Monte Carlo caliper is commonly used with small discs and 13” wheels, I guess it must be acceptable! |

But as the measurements are quoted as maximum,s , then I think it is allowed to machine smaller . As in the 280mm x 25mm discs being cut down to 260mm x 25mm . |

In both Gp2 and 4 (last version of Appendix J, 1981), discs can be reduced (but larger ones must be homologated) and callipers cannot be modified and alternative callipers must be homologated - but with no minimum production quantity.
The 650 (Gp4) papers are of course for the mythical "Escort RS", not the RS1800. The only homologated RS1800 under that Appendix J is by "evolution" of the 1605 Mk1 RS1600. |
