It was WEC at Shanghai on Fr/Sat. SF was Fri/Sat/Sun. Couldn't qualify, couldn't start.

If Lotterer only did 4 of 6 rounds, that is 66% - maybe you need to compete in 75% of the championship to be in title contention... How is that for a guess

Read in Autosport's latest issue that in the event of a tie the title is decided on the basis of points gained in the final round.
So Lotterer took the gamble and it didn't pay off.

What I read was that the tiebreaker rules is, the driver with most points on a single round wins. Yamamoto'results at the doubleheader beat Lotterer's wins.

Sorry for off topic.

Japanese Autosport reports Japanese Junior formula.
Formula Challenge Japan will be reorganized by Japanese Formula 4 next year. Formula 4 car and FCJ car will jointly race.
However, GTA (Promotor of Super GT) announces that it will promote FIA-F4 in the future.
This means that FIA-F4 and JAF-F4 overlap in Japan.
Autosport magazine says that GTA will not take action against the profits of Japanese motorsports industry.
Autosport speculates that GTA specifies JMIA as a constructor of Japanese FIA-F4, and JAF-F4 will be reorganized by FIA-F4.

If JMIA is involved with the FIA F4 series then I doubt there will be overlap. I'd imagine that JF4 and FCJ will disappear, which is a great shame in the case of the former, I could care less about the latter.

According to Taki Inoue's Facebook page comment(Minoru Hayashi),
Dome (or JMIA) made the entry application of FIA-F4 to FIA.
By this, FIA-F4 [ of Japan ] will be carried out by the machine of Dome (or JMIA).

Autosport web reports interview with SF champ Naoki Yamamoto.
*I would like to race in overseas as a realistic target.
*Race in overseas means "F1", for me.
*So I think that next year is very important for me in that sense.
*I would like to race next year with realistic future vision.

Could Naoki Yamamoto be a test/reserve or a development driver in F1 for a team?

It is a key point whether he can participate in overseas series next year.

Curiously, Karthikeyan had already raced in the F. Nippon in... 2001 season!
