Pedro Rodriguez-35 years ago
An article on DSC reminded me of Pedro Rodriguez' death in a Ferrari 512 in Germany, thirty five years ago.
Pedro was something of a hero to me, with his great drives at Daytona and Sebring, neither very far from my home town. He became a legend in the Porsche 917, a legend itself, and his dices with Siffert in a similar car will never be replaced as some of the greatest motoracing dices ever. His death was reported on the local television news and in the local paper, as he had many fans and had created a big impression in this area. I myself was greatly saddened, it was big thing at age fourteen to have a hero die, only a handful of months after seeing him drive at Sebring and Daytona. Farewell to Pedro, he may have been small in stature but he was mighty in a Porsche 917! Last edited by skycafe; 12 Jul 2006 at 00:05. |

Yes, another of the great drivers lost in a dangerous period for motor racing, but never forgotten
RIP Pedro. |
