BillWiskins should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Rounds 10, 11 & 12 - Oulton Park

Well, there wasn't a thread, so I made one. It's this one, here.

It's been a fairly long break but we're back on track this weekend, and back to the Island layout this year (to everyone's relief, I expect). Not a lot of news recently - Not Infiniti Support Our Paras Racing will run just one car, the AMD Focus is rebuilt, and BMR will run a title sponsor (RCIB Insurance) instead of their previously plain black liveries.

Fun fun fun, BTCC returns, excellent. Discuss.

Why can't you just give him credit for once!? He was miles in front of his team mates. Getting very tiresome now.

What Idiot thought it would be a great idea cut the BTCC coverage so people can watch the Tennis final?

Well, at least it's only a few support slots that won't be televised live - and while I would like to be able to see them, I think we are pretty lucky to get the coverage we have. Plus I don't remember a weekend being interrupted in the past, so I'm willing to let it slide.

Have you considered that the contract for covering the Tennis contains a clause specifying that the event has to be shown live? Such clauses are quite common. Also the program planners and marketing teams at ITV may have decided that there is more commercial benefit for their organisation to show the tennis as it has a wider audience base than that for the BTCC.

The 'missing' support races are being shown on ITV4 as 'Motorsport UK Extra' at 10pm, so you aren't missing anything.

The Tennis final starts on ITV4 as ITV1 are already showing the Ireland/England football friendly. Tennis coverage switches to ITV1 as soon as the footie is finished.

Given that ITV have been showing the tennis live for the last 2 weeks, and have probably spent a significant amount on the rights to do so, there was no way they were not going to show the final live.

They could've bumped the Tennis upto ITV3. Seeing as it only seems to show murder mysteries it wouldn't have interupted much and if they had to extend the coverage due to the Final not being concluded it wouldn't be problem.

Or even bumped the BTCC to ITV3, or ITV2 (whatever it shows), wherever they put it we'd watch it.

Still, it'll give me something to watch tonight!

See my earlier post. Tennis moves to ITV1 as soon as the football is over. Doesn't matter if the final is still being played at midnight, it won't have any impact on the second half of the BTCC coverage.

Based on last year's viewing figures 3-4x as many people as watch BTCC.

Fact is we have never had it so good with the coverage. Anyone remember when we used to have to wait a week or two to get half an hour of highlights. Occasionally other sports will interfere and we have to accept that. So don't knock it

Race one rather uneventful, aside from Turkington deciding to use a different circuit than everyone else, but race two was much more interesting. Plato takes the win (with max ballast) by 0.093 from Shedden, Priaulx and Collard come together, and is this the first time both Protons have finished the same race this year?

Why in God's name does the director feel it's necessary to cut into split screen which features a much smaller screen with the racing on it and another smaller one featuring lots of uninterested team members all busy doing their jobs which aren't in any way spectacular or moving in any way? This HAS to stop. It was already irritating, but now they're cutting in to nothing relevant at a time that doesn't make any of this 'in the moment human emotions' BS relevant either. It's hugely irritating. I'm not tuning in to watch Team Dynamics' engineers watch TV. I'm tuning in to watch it myself thank you. I want to see racing, not other peoples' dead pan faces as they watch. Pointless new dynamic that brings nothing positive to the coverage and in fact makes it worse and more laughable. It needs to stop asap. As in FOR RACE 3.

really a **** poor show, this track combined with the no push to pass rules means we have dull F1 level processions

there hardly was any passing and since they showed Donington 3 race this adds more to the perception

Well it took 2 races and 8 laps but that was some good racing there!!!

Biggest news perhaps is that Dan Welch scored a point.

Last year we were told that the slightly processional races were due to not being on the Island circuit. This year they are back on Island circuit and nothing seems to have changed.

I think '**** poor' is a bit over the top - not as bad as last year, certainly. I enjoyed it at least. Feel for Adam Morgan, as it wasn't much of a jump-start, but it was a jump-start. I'm very pleased to see Mr Welch scraping in to the points, even if Wilmot retired yet again. At least they've got one of them running right.
