Bosch coil for Motorcraft system

Hi, does anyone know the right reference for a Bosch coil to suit a Motorcraft system? I've been using an Intermotor 11030 but keep getting an intermittent top end misfire - I want to try a Bosch and see if it resolves it.
Thanks

kartingdad has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Change your carb instead.

Thats what sorted our high end misfire recently. Took 3 carbs to sort it though.

Try changing the master switch, they are notoriously un-reliable, the vibrations seem to damage them.

Thanks, I've changed the master switch and heard about carbs failing but I change the coil and it works - for a bit, so I'm suspecting the coil at the moment. The ignition switch also seems to go pretty regularly but I've changed that again as well. Fingers crossed.

Check any soldered battery leads. The solder vibrates loose in the terminal and causes bad connections due to high resistance. All battery connections should be crimped and not soldered. Check your battery cable - try swapping it to a fine stranded type which has less resistance than a coarse 'car' type cable and is much more flexible. Try swapping the battery.

We had all sorts of problems with our latest Swift and are still not sure which of the solutions cured a persistant intermittant misfire..

I would imagine if its not carb, then you have a high resistance joint somewhere.

Best of luck.....you'll need it.

Bernard Baxter does a Bosch distributer which has the base plate fixed and the mechanical advance sorted for under £100.

Silly question: have you tried removing & replacing the existing coil? If that cures it, it points to a wiring/connector fault rather than the coil.

I got mine from a Bosch agent, cheaper than Ford, the Bosch number was
V821F (121 100) BA.

Thanks for the advice everyone, ran on Saturday with no problems. New coil and ignition switch. I will keep the details in case of any future problems.

Stuart Sanders recommended to move to a dry coil type for greater reliability, anyone else any experience of these?

Thanks
