Don't know tbh. We do know that midway round the lap the team radioed him and told him to slow down. Lapierre said he couldn't shift down. Because by that point he'd ripped the hydraulic line out and has no control of the gearbox. Had he driven slowly from the start then it'd have been fine.

Its gaining about 10 seconds a lap. According to RLM that's about on par with what it needs.

So, no margin for safety cars, slow zones or more problems for a #2 going at ten tenths and some more
